Vols Hire Darin Hinshaw per Drew Edwards

If he is so great at finding young coaching talent explain how he went 4-8 last year in his 3rd yr as HC? Also tell me how many schools went after this hidden coaching talent he left behind at La Tech? Wait for it, wait for it, yes there is the answer none. The only schools interested in his previous staff is the man who hired them which is running our program now.

I think the 4-8 record has been explained many times on here (lots of injuries), but you probably did not see that. LOL. The kicking coach was sought out by Texas Tech, as just one example. Hey, believe what you want. We all believe you know more than Dooley. :)

believing in my vols and coaches is the mentality that has allowed this program to slip? wtf? I blame noone for being upset about the things that are going on, BUT they are now our coaches. Nothing we can say or do will change that. We need to embrace them and show our support. Our vols will need us in the stands now more than ever. The other coaches are gone and will be dealt with. The new coaches are now VOLS. we must accept it, heal, and move on. After this Season we will come back and either have more hate or absolutely love the new coaches. Nothing short of Championships is expected. Same as any year, no matter the coach.

I agree

Agree 100%. Dooley is the one who recommended Kirby Smart and Muschamp to Saban when both were unknown. Dooley has a knack for finding smart young coaching talent.
So that means in a critical period we need to fill our staff with roll of the dice, no names from much smaller, losing programs? How Homeresque can you get? You defend a dirt bag like he was your family and now you're defending horrendous staff hires. You got so much faith in our coaches, do you? 17-20...that's right.

In La. Tech/ WAC conference and 17-20 we trust!
If we had Wittingham in here making the hires...I might have a little more trust...but I was wholly underwhelmed with Dooley's hire in the first place. When he brought in Bagget, I was optimistic that at least, like Kiffin he was going to try to bring in the best staff he could. We had 3-4 coaching spots remaining, and Dooley shot one of them all to hell.

Looking at his numbers I think he can coach. He improved the rushing and recieving stats at schools like MTSU and Memphis. They have mediocre wide recievers at these schools. Think what he can do with Matt Milton!!!

His team, much like ours was hindered by injuries to key players down the stretch. I read something like 6-7 starters were either out completely or limited in PT. Plus he had to play 3 teams that completely out classed his team talent wise just to keep the lights on in his athletic department.

wont be the first time
Yeah...all these counterfeit forum cops trying to lay down the law around here, if anyone voices their concern over a no-name staff hire or something...that includes Dooley too, not just the La. Tech guys he wants to bring with him.

I think it might be time to break out the Mike Hamilton signature series pitchfork.

And you act like *****ing about it on a message board is going to change things but guess what, it isn't.Continue to voice your "concern", maybe CDD will see it and ask for your expert input on the next hire.

A lot of you yahoos dissing this hire probably just loved Trooper Taylor. He coached where before coming to Tennessee? New Mexico? Baylor? Tulane? Real top of the pile experience, huh?

...who hired trooper ? Is that where we are headed ..again ?

What do you base his success on ? He didn't look too good until Cutcliffe came along did he ? What has he done since then ? Chest bump here , towel wave there .

Taylor is no big time successful coach . He is a pretty good recruiter and has alot of enthusiasm. He was a part of the problem...Cutcliffe came along he was suddenly well thought of ...then he left .

Excuses excuses excuses, we lost plenty of starters last year and we overcome them in a much tougher conference. I had never watched so many Vols play as freshmen as I did last year. A winning attitude does not lean on excuses a winner finds way to win.

Butch Jones former HC at Central Michigan led his team last year to a 12-2 season and top 25 ranking. Butch is the new head coach for the Bearcats replacing Brian Kelly. His 3 yr record at CMU was 27-13, better then 17-20

and Brian Kelly set that program up for Jones at CMU. How was LaTech before Dooley got there???

Well, the trip up to Cincinnati from Knoxville won't be to bad of a drive for you. When you get there be sure to tell Butch that you wish he were coach at UT instead of Dooley, that should make both of you feel good.

Give the guy a chance, Dooley said he was not going to hire a all-star staff. I mean how hard is it to coach RB's, hold it high and tight and hit the hole hard.

I agree we are making judgements before we have even seen the coach

1 game less in the win column from the previous coach last 3 yrs there. Yeah he really turned it around with all those highly talented coaches he was able to find. But don't fret he has a southern accent which should go a long way in comforting so many here who found solitude in it.

I am no Jones fan nor would I have wanted him as a HC, but he was at a small school and produced a better record then Dooley.

Perhaps you are young and don't remember Vince Dooley coaching at GA, I do. I hated his dad and I be da**** if Hambone didn't spend less then 72 hrs and hired his son.

Our recruiting class was already tanked when the former coach left, a rush hire was not going to save it.

How was La. Tech when he left (hint: 4-8)? Now THAT is the question! Just what we need to improve from Fulmer's horrid 5-7 record....a coach from a much smaller school with a worse record. Yeah! Get your Orange Pom-Poms out ladies and gents...it's time to get fired up over making the right hire for the Big Orange. YYYAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!! :clapping:

THE SKY IS FALLING!!! and I am being 100% serious. Hate to say it but I am going to go ahead and say the next 5 years are going to be one of the worst spans in UT football history. If Hammy wants to stick around he should go ahead and start planning on getting a new coach so we don't turn into Bama and have DuBose-Franchione-Shula era

Nobody here knows what is going to happen in the future. I guess we will find out soon enough who is correct.

Concern is one thing, but many of your posts go a bit beyond that.

Counterfeit forum cops, Mike Hamilton signature series pitchfork, etc... Really?

Good grief, how proud you must be of yourself...

Nobody is saying you have to get fired up for the Big Orange there are all sorts of teams that you can support if UT isn't your team at this moment. It's ok to be a bandwagon fan if you want there are plenty of those types of people.Cheer for the Vols when they are on top, I bet you claim to be the biggest Vol fan out there don't you?But when things aren't going just how you like you ***** and complain just like a little 16 year old girl whose parents won't let her date yet.Your ranting is getting old and boring, how about just going away until UT gets a coach who you can support, maybe we won't have to deal with you for a long, long time.

Guy's I'm just at a loss of words on the coaching situation as u are, but I think we are losing sight of what makes us true VOL fans, that is supporting the guy's on the field. They are gonna need our support now more than ever. So I'm gonna put a side all this negative talk and do what I've always done, cheer for my Volunteers and be 100% ALL VOL!

Can't understand figures of speech when you read them....wow...you must really love you some..you.

Dude I have read everything on Dooley and it all sucks. The voice of the displeased with this hire will be heard next year when attendance is down and the program is losing money because football can't pay for all the other sports. The only way the voice of the people is heard is when the stands are half empty. During the course of my day I see season ticket holders and 3 out of 5 say this hire has them worried and are considering setting out next season to see what happens.

Over 40 yrs of being a fan and this hiring is the thanks we as fans get. My wish is come next year at this time that Hambone and the HC are ran out of town on a rail.

You want the head coach run out of town before he has even had a chance to coach a game? The only thing you have read about Dooley sucking is some of the crap that Tennacious has been posting and all that is good for is printing out and using as toilet paper.Don't go to the games if you don't want to your tickets will be bought I guarantee it.Give CDD a chance and if he can't get it done THEN talk about getting rid of him not before the first game.

I think Hamilton knows....his article in GVX about there being "Positive feedback" on Dooley's hire means he's aware of the chitstorm he stirred up with this hire, and like Fulmer trying to justify his staff's performance during an early season collapse, he knew the fire was fixing to rain. There is a BOT meeting next month, IIRC, and at the top of the dockett will be Hamiltons gaffes (not just in regard to this hire).

I want a fanbase that DOES NOT settle. If all they do is sit back and take whatever mush the AD gives them, then we will be the next Washington Huskies with a winless season. Guys, Tyrone Willingham was immensely more qualified as a coach than Dooley. This is blind Homerism. At the very least, the right amount of heat will make Dooley take notice that these staff hires are serious freakin business...and another MTSU coach, and I'm done. All hope is gone with this guy.
