Vols Hire Darin Hinshaw per Drew Edwards

I suppose ole Doofus Dooley is making UT the laughing stock of the conference.. We go from an all star staff that other schools envied to this? We had a staff that top notch recruits wanted to play for to the poster school of no names and lame. I know the DD gang are going to say I am not a fan blah blah. I have been a Vol fan for over 40 yrs and this hire has been horrible. The only bright spots on this staff are Cheney and Thompson whom the previous coach hired. All you Dooley supporters need to open your eyes. This is going to be a train wreck and us fans will be the ones paying for it. The AD and coaches are getting paid, and we are left with heartache to show for it.

I got a better idea...let hire Coach Quarles and HOPE FOR THE BEST!. I didn't realize that is what UT has become...a place to hire no name "up-an-comers" and hope for the freakin best...against teams that have won the national championships 4 straight times[/QUOTE
Is it possible the money is not being give to Dooley like it was kiffin? I hope he sees talent in coaches and hires some good quality coaches that will work hard and earn a name for themselves. But I do not want him to hire someone that might have potential. We need talented coaches. So lets (again) hope that CDD knows this guy and he is a talented young coach.:banghead2:

He's coached QB's & RB's in the past. I think he had a multi-yr stretch as a RB coach. Kinda random hire, but the bio seems to infer he knows how to coach.

So you don't think the Eric Russell and Charlie Baggett hires are above average hires? So far I have loved all of CDD's decisions but this hiring just makes me scratch my head for a moment, but I hope he succeeds.

Maybe he is light skinned and without the dialect so that the liberals will approve.

LIBERAL - permitting freedom of action esp. with respect to matters of personal belief or expression, free from prejudice or bigotry, tolerant, open-minded or tolerant, characterized by generosity and willingness to give in large amounts

:wavey:

I'm liberal and I approve!!!

Ok with him coaching QB.

WR and RB may not be the best.

Chaney takes OL, Hinshaw QB, Baggett WR.

Get a RB coach.

Guess what?Darin Hinshaw is now a coach at the University of Tennessee so either support him or shut your mouth.I think I'll trust the judgement of a guy who played college football, has been an assistant under one of the best football coaches in recent memory, has been a head coach and AD at a division I program himself, and on top of that has been a practicing lawyer over a couple of you whiny little nobodies on a message board.Support this team, this staff and this school or take a hike. And before some of you say you can have an opinion on this, no you can't because it doesn't matter and it doesn't change anything so stop *****ing and lend your support.jeremytn yhis is aimed at you and people like you.

You know "people like you" are just as bad as the nay-sayers. You shouldn't just blindly jump on the bus - what if it's going 50 mph and keanu reeves is driving?

Just because someone questions the decisions of the coaches and the school doesn't mean they aren't fans, they're just concerned about the direction the program is heading, and so am I. I remain hopeful, but logic tells me the the recent hires will only lead to more 7-6 seasons at best.

Meyer and Saban didn't start at a USC-like school and they're in the SEC and seem to be doing fine.....just sayin'
Saban never had a 10 win season at Michigan State...but at least it was a school in a BCS conference. He took another reasonable step up to LSU and the rest is history. When you run a high profile program in the SEC, you don't go on a bargain basement, Dollar General hiring spree.

This hire here took sucked ALL the optimism right out of me, and I'm feeling more like I did a week ago when Cutcliffe was said to be our next head coach.

So what logic tells you we are headed for 7-6 seasons?

IDK about Hinshaw but I think at the very least he is an upgrade to Reaves. I've heard Reaves was the weakest link on the staff; since X hasn't taken him along for the ride to USC and has everyone else to this point, it looks like that may be true.

How did that bus ride turn out by the way?Seems like it ended ok huh?I supported Kiffin and his staff and at the time enjoyed the brashness and energy he brought but now it's coach Dooley's turn and I will support him until he proves that he can't get the job done.I believe CDD will do just fine as long as he is given the chance,Like I said in my previous post I'll trust the judgement of this man over fools on a message board any day.

Really. Dude, look at an NFL team's list of coaches. Who are these guys? We don't know.

If you constantly harp on this "who are these assistants?" then you need to follow Kiffin. USC gear may be real inexpensive in the next couple of years.

Let's let the guys actually coach a game. Then the legion of the miserable can begin in earnest.
This is what kills me....yahoo's like yourself and plenty others trying to dictate what we can and cannot say or think.

I'm sorry to inform you, but I don't answer to a single damn person on this board. At the end of the day, you and I are just Joes with an Opinion...that's it. You ain't running the show, and you ain't laying down the terms.
Capeesh?

Keep your chin up. Maybe Matt Luke and Kurt Roper are on deck to be hired.
Anybody got a good used bridge I can jump off of? :)

David Reaves coached at an SEC school and was their recruiting coordinator. So where in this guy's bio are you drawing this conclusion. If I'm a recruit, I'll read his bio if I'm having trouble getting to sleep...cause it's an absolute snoozer.

Next year's schedule along with what appears for now to be a weaker coaching staff. Also current recruiting will probably drop a little further, which will likely have an effect on future seasons.
Make a note of this...one more hire of this magnitude...or lack thereof...and this recruiting class is....come on say it with me...T-O-A-S-T! That's right....the burned, extra crispy variety.

You're right the bus ride turned out well, but my point with that analogy is that careful steps have to be taken in order to ensure that is doesn't explode. Right now I'm not too happy with some of the decisions that have been made and the program appears to be headed for disaster, but I do hope that I'm wrong and that Dooley rights the ship.

Perfectly worded comment!

But we have a very smart head coach and I think he'll be ok after he gets this thing going it is just going to take some time.We don't have to have a superstar staff to be successful just one that is smart, hungry and wants to win.

Urban Meyer came from Bowling Green/Utah. Guessing he didn't reel in too many big time coordinators. Has a couple national championships now.

yeah bro ...he coaches at UF though ....recruits grow on trees down there . Ron Zook couldn't find a way to win less than 7

So Turner Gill, Chris Peterson, and Brian Kelly are at the bottom too because they currently coach or have coached at small schools. Great logic you have here:crazy:

even better logic you have ...
those guys are proven winners at the small schools ...these guys are not
