Vols Hire Darin Hinshaw per Drew Edwards

You guys are still drinking the X cool-aid....where did this fascination with an all star staff and all star recruiters begin??

Larry Slade, Steve Caldwell, Greg Adkins, Dan Brooks, Matt Luke, David Cutcliffe, Trooper Taylor....Now that was an All Star staff and they were all All Star recruiters when they got here.....right??

Go on and do some homework and you'll see that most of that staff came from lesser known programs. Cutcliffe before he caught on at UT was a high school coach for pete's sake.....go research them all and see what I'm saying is true. In fact, only Slade had any real success on his resume before coming to K-ville.

X-man and Yaw Yaw didn't believe that recruits would come to TN for its tradition ,its "brand name"...he tried to make UT the USC of the east and removed many of the posters and images of UT's glory days and replaced them with USC success stories. He thought he needed to sell recruits on the ALL STAR Coaches. Name me one other school that does that...I'll wait. Saban?? Meyers?? Paterno?? Mack Brown?? Even Pete Carroll never did that. We all came to know some of the names of their assistants as they did well, they never sold the public on their staff....they sell their program and the school

Meyer brought many assistants from Bowling Green to Utah and then to FL. Before anyone else says Utah better than Memphis, MTSU, etc....My family lives there and until U. Meyer got there, you need to go back to the 60's and the big sky conference....gheesh!

Let Dooley do what he said he'd do...put together a staff that works well together. team chemistry is as important, if not more important for the coaching staff as it is the actual team. Let him put together a cohesive staff, that can function like a well oiled machine, rife with energetic, hungry, young up-and-comers suppliimented with some needed experienced guys

Charlie Baggett is on the staff already right? I don't mean hired ... I dont mean coming ... he is here this very second right?

WORD! :good!:

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't there some talk about Lache Seastrunk having some kind of interest in memphis? wonder if hinshaw was in on that.

Yes, he is.

And to also comment on the idea that Hinshaw will coach our WR...Dooley, Baggett (Asst HC/WR), and Chaney (OC) are the only ones that have their positions labeled on utsports.com. According to that he will not be coaching WR so he could end up coaching QB's or RB's. He broke every record at UCF while he was there as a QB and he started out coaching RB's.

Guess what?Darin Hinshaw is now a coach at the University of Tennessee so either support him or shut your mouth.I think I'll trust the judgement of a guy who played college football, has been an assistant under one of the best football coaches in recent memory, has been a head coach and AD at a division I program himself, and on top of that has been a practicing lawyer over a couple of you whiny little nobodies on a message board.Support this team, this staff and this school or take a hike. And before some of you say you can have an opinion on this, no you can't because it doesn't matter and it doesn't change anything so stop *****ing and lend your support.jeremytn yhis is aimed at you and people like you.

Thanks for the shout out.

Amen.

Coached running backs for 2 years before getting promoted. Yeah it's MTSU but who freakin cares. Since we keep bringing Saban up he started at Toledo and then went on to coach at the Cleveland Browns who still stink. Some people interview very well like our last coach and have done nothing special some people dont interview as well or have a swagger but can get the job done. I personally am feeling really good about where we're headed.

He looks like a very bright young coach. I bet he is a good one.
Oh, you can just tell that....how, exactly? And he is going to sell what to recruits? That he's an upper comer? Aren't they all...aren't they all?

Recruit: Never heard of you coach...Where did you say you coached, again?

Hinshaw: Uh...Middle Tennessee State...and....uuhhhhhh...Memphis.

Recruit: Okay...? So, didn't Memphis have a disaster for a team last year...so much so, that their Head Coach got fired?

Hinshaw: Uhhhh....well...yeah....

Recruit: Ok, and just who have you coached and what have they accomplished while you were their coach?

Hinshaw: Well...I don't think you've ever heard of them...

Recruit: Yeah, right....kind of like I've never heard of you. Well, coach, I gotta go. It was nice talking with ya.

This hire right here and Joseph are two examples of what I feared Dooley meant in his presser, that he's not going to have an All-Star staff. Great...Vol-Nation, prepare yourselves for years of Low Expectations...even lower than the Fulmer years. This is what I feared the most. Everyone complained about Coaches Reaves...calling him the weakest link on the staff. Well, he has 5 times the resume as Jospeh and 50 times this guy.

Zac-

Dude players will not respond that way. The coaches are in control if good. The players are intimidated by the coaches...thus why home visits etc are so important. You forget what it is like to be a kid and may never have known what it is like to be a kid and dumb.

Did you see Ambles last night?

I'm not sure why some people have a problem with this guy. This is a good hire. This guy has improved every position he has ever coached. All assistants can't start at USC. You have to start some where. I like it.

This post made me laugh. I just can't see Seantrel Henderson being intimidated by Jim Tressel....but I know what your saying.

That's fine...for the Univ. of New Mexico...or USF....or Rutgers. BUT NOT THE SEC!

bingo! Winner winner chicken dinner!

Let's hope for us all he is good and not someone needing on the job training.
I got a better idea...let hire Coach Quarles and HOPE FOR THE BEST!. I didn't realize that is what UT has become...a place to hire no name "up-an-comers" and hope for the freakin best...against teams that have won the national championships 4 straight times

Meyer and Saban didn't start at a USC-like school and they're in the SEC and seem to be doing fine.....just sayin'

Really. Dude, look at an NFL team's list of coaches. Who are these guys? We don't know.

If you constantly harp on this "who are these assistants?" then you need to follow Kiffin. USC gear may be real inexpensive in the next couple of years.

Let's let the guys actually coach a game. Then the legion of the miserable can begin in earnest.
