Fulmer only had one season to adapt - he brought in the new OC but didnt have the right offensive players yet -- if knowing what the next 10 years were going to be like, then I would gladly have gave him 1 more seasonIn Fulmer's last 4 years, Tennessee was 29-21. In Butch Jones's last 4 years, Tennessee was 29-22. It wasn't like Fulmer was doing amazing things with the program when we let him go.
Letting Fulmer go was the right decision, as he could not adapt to the new style of winning in college football, but the administration has done a very poor job finding replacements.
I’ll always be on Fulmer’s side. I grew up in the 90s and what I’ve seen from the coaches since then are coaches that really didn’t want to be here. And that’s because nobody wanted to here except Fulmer so we’ve had to settle for every coach since then. He truly cares about Tennessee. That’s what we’ve been missing with our head coaches. He was let go a year after making the SEC Championship. We were about to have Tajh Boyd until Kiffin turned him away. I think we should’ve stuck it out. At least we were in the SEC Championship game every 3 years. Now finishing in 2nd or 3rd place in the East is considered a success.
Fahr'n Fulmer was a very, very poor choice, those who are still trying to polish that turd ten years later obviously cosigned the decision and can't own up to a mistake even now. When Fulmer was fired we were literally one year removed from a 10 win season and one year removed from an SEC Championship appearance, and we haven't sniffed either since. We've had a hard time hiring coaches ever since because no decent coach with any other real option wants to come work for a bunch of jerks who treat somebody like Fulmer, one of our own, the way we did. What we could get was a sorry POS like Kiffin who simply resolved to screw us before we could screw him. Now that Fulmer, somebody who actually loves UT, despite everything is back in charge, we'll eventually get this sorted out. Call it butthurt or whatever you want but I absolutely fault you anti-Fulmerites for the last 10 years, you jerkoffs got too big for your britches and screwed all of us. You may hate Haslem now but 10 years ago you were right there with him, encouraging the powers that be to make the decision that has made us the laughing stock of the SEC. Congrats.
