If Jones can't get them to stick around that number will continue to grow.

Attrition happens everywhere, but no excuse for having 3 recruiting classes the size and caliber of ours in the past 3 years and STILL having to rely on freshman at every position.

Dooley + injuries = yes there's legit reasons. Not excuses. What there's not excuses for is not closing out games we should've won.

That is a stat that tells you absolutely nothing. What does "played" even mean? Put in on one play? I've never seen people so eager to make excuses.

It would have been nice to RS some but the talent level was on par with MTSU instead of other SEC schools so we've played many freshmen...

But one freshmen who hasn't played is Drew Richmond...a 5 Star OL...and that's surprising considering our problems on the OL...

How many of them "play" and how many of them play special teams or made an appearance in the 4th quarter against Western Carolina?

just curious

I looked for a Tennessee depth chart and saw two freshman starting. No redshirt freshman. Juaun Jennings and Kirkland. I don't know if that's accurate.

This. Also, why two years? Why not 3, Butch's time here? Why not 4, the life time of current senior class? Why not just this year? It's obvious they are cherry picking stats to try and make excuses, and it's sad that so many not only fall for it but help them perpetuate the scam.

I would bet that no team in the country lost as many signess from one class as we did in the 2012(68%)..we only have 7 of the 22 left..those would be your Seniors and RS Juniors..its like being on probation and losing 15 scholarships in 2 years!

I believe Butch has had 18 players leave from his first 3 recruiting classes. That's a lot and that would help the youth and depth excuse. I know players leave/run off for different reasons but most schools would of had 5-10 during that time frame.

We get it..you guys want Butch fired! It's not happening the rumor fell through and he won't be fired unless we lose every game on the schedule ..which I have no doubt many on here hope happens!

Serious question - if u are a Vols fan, and just come here to post negative crap when things aren't going well; is it because u want ppl to talk u off the ledge?

Seems like weak character to me..

Again, that tells you nothing. What number was second? If there were a bunch of teams with one less at 39 is having 40 that big of a deal? That stat does nothing but give those who want to make an excuse something to post. That's it. It does not provide any actual information.

Uhh, do you realize that the 3rd class that you speak of is actually THE 17 freshmen who are part of the record, right? If you're going to lay down the "law of No Excuse" it helps to at least look into the facts and formulate a valid complaint.

That's a very valid point....but a large portion of our IGNORANT FAN BASE can't see/understand that. They want to come on here and ***** and bash the coaches! It's absolutely sickening. Clueless....and embarrassing is what it is. They don't understand the "process"...and yes it "IS" a process. If you can't tolerate or UNDERSTAND the process....please bail...and check back in a couple of years. Of course then...these same fans will be boasting about what loyal fans they've been through it all...and they knew we were just a year or two away!! Again...just sickening!
