"Vols have no business in Top 10"

Coach Jones is NOT the only coach that has sat on a lead late in the game. All coaches do it - if you have an effective defense that defense should be able to protect a 14 point lead in the fourth quarter.

I do disagree though with the thought that Coach Jones purposely "sat on the lead". UT was still calling plays that had been effective previously in the game. The opposing defense stopped those plays.

If he had decided to be more aggressive going for it on 4th down or using risky plays that can have very bad results and failed all of you that are complaining would be complaining that he deviated from the offense when he had a 14 point lead.

The lead was lost because of the defense - but you all don't want to talk about that because it points away from an offense that some of you just don't like.

Oh okay. Let's just run it between the tackles 3 downs and punt and hope for best. Some people have short memories. With a bigtime opponent desperate to score in those final 10 minutes, just opt for a quick 3 and out and turn the ball back over to them. Dare them to score 2 or 3 quick TDs. That never happened to us, right?

I like the offense just fine. With Dobbs running the option and backs like Hurd and Kamara, there is no excuse to turn if completely off and give the opponents a free 10 minutes to run repeated drives. You can move the sticks and milk clock without high risk plays.

Let's agree to disagree. You are a 'prevent D' believer and I am emphatically not. Do you want to win titles or have some near misses like last year?

Was listening to a Vegas insider on the Chris Vernon show here in Memphis and the odds are on Florida or Georgia to win the east, and had Tennessee winning 9 games and losing 3 also had us winning the first 4 games of the year and losing the next 3 and winning out the rest.. God forbid if this happens.. I hope we can beat Florida, Georgia and Bama I'll be very happy with a 3-0 record but 2 would work. Also have Tennessee slipping up at A&M during a stretch..

LOL what a funny post.

Playing at A&M won't be easy, but there's also a chance that they won't be very good this year.

Agree with this and we know The Chief has this game circled.. His players have always played for him.. Very very dangerous game..

Correct, but this is a preseason poll, and no one really know who the top 10 teams are until Nobember.

This made me sad^ except win number 4

It's a horrible thought and should not happen with this team BUT, this is a grown mans conference. It's gona be tough.

All the folks that just know Georgia and Florida are gona suck I don't think have a clue. With all the talent on both of those teams they are not gona be easy wins at all IMO. 1st year coaches, 1st year starters at QB. Who won the east last year? 1st year coach with a 1st year starter at QB (until the juice discovery)

Team 120 is gona have to show their better, and more experienced and Jones is gona have to show he has learned from past mistakes and Shoop is gona have to show he is the premier coach we all think he is plus lady luck is gona have to be a Vol fan for us to go to Atlanta and beyond.

I like our chances though

Do you really consider a poll that had Northwestern ranked 10 positions above UT as credible? Final score 45-6, evidence over ruled.

Northwestern had beaten Stanford and Wisconsin. It's hard to blame pollsters for ranking them where they did. If anything, we were underrated several spots.

And Michigan does. And what ranked teams have they beaten??

Johnny, I don't know the context of your question, can't find it in the thread. But I can at least answer for you. :good!:

Michigan has beaten three ranked teams in the past three years:
  • beat #20 Notre Dame in 2013, 41-30
  • beat #23 Northwestern in 2015, 38-0
  • beat #25 Florida in a 2015 bowl game, 41-7
In those same three years, they've lost to six other ranked opponents (Ohio State three times and Michigan State three times...their Bama / Florida equivalents). Overall record against Top 25 is 3-6 ... record against Top 10 is 0-5.

Hope this helps in your conversation!

:dance:Same number of ranked teams Tennessee has beaten. The point is why is no one *****ing bout Michigan being a top ten team. Don't forget Michigan farting a game away vs. MSU,in true Tennessee style. Blown out by OSU. Only hack writers pissed with axes to grind about Tennessee ***** about it.
