Why are teams ALWAYS at their paramount when the Vols play them? Seems like of SEC west opponent is either at their best or just a remarkably great season out of nowhere. We are genuinely cursed.

This thread is like a gut punch, when you think of the overall body of work and history between the 2 programs. This is a depressing statistic.

The 1980 loss, was against Dan Marino. The 1983 loss was to a Fiesta Bowl team that nearly beat OSU in Tempe. Last years loss was to a Pitt team that won the ACC.

This years UT team is a team on the rise (I feel), but still a very thin and not so talented defense. Coupled with a Pitt team that lost key pieces to last years team, but still lots of depth and overall sound and well coached team.

Vols need to be almost flawless on offense to win this one, I believe. The defense will have to FIND A WAY TO GET OFF FIELD ON 3RD DOWN, a turn over or 2 and perhaps a special teams score. If this game is in the 4th quarter, Vols could easily lose.

Pitt is an all time top15-25 program and we have lost to three of their best teams in the modern era. Relax
Yeah pitt probably loves seeing us on the schedule bc usually means they’re going to have a great team those years.

To be fair, every time we have played them, they have been pretty good. The combined records of the 3 teams we have played, 1980, 1983 and 2021 is 29-7-1.
