Vols got off light according to this writer

I know it’s the offseason, but it’s crazy seeing some of you guys just scrolling through Google looking for articles to be offended by. Go watch some baseball or something.
I assume you're referencing me and if so you don't know what you're talking about. That article was sent to me.

That writer is full of it.

Two things and only two things define the best of the best programs in college football: Longevity, measured in years as a football team, and Success, measured in Wins and Championships.

Any punishment that doesn't go directly to one or both of those core measurables can not be the biggest possible punishment. And since the NCAA did away with the death penalty, punishments can no longer affect a program's longevity. So the worst punishments are, in order:

1. vacating championships
2. vacating wins
3. post-season bans (effectively preventing future championships and wins for some period of time)
4. scholarships taken away (it's not the Xs and Os, it's the Jimmies and Joes when it comes to chasing championships)

Everything else, everything else, is lesser and secondary. I don't care how much money you're fined, I don't care how many coaches get show causes. It's not as impactful to the PROGRAM.

So for this dude to imply Michigan's punishment (no vacated wins, no post-season bans, no lost scholarships) is as bad as Tennessee's. Well, he's just a fool.

Go Vols!

B!tch agian got off so light it's disgusting
Bottom line, they were scared they would have to face us in the playoffs so they stole signs and sold em to redneck rainman in columbia ... which led to Hookers injury... futdat and fuggem. The crybaby big 10 sissies can cry all they want. Their tears are as sweet to me as an expensive red wine!

I’ve never met anyone from Michigan in Tennessee who wasn’t nice to me and pleasant to talk to. I’ve visited people in Michigan a couple times who treated me well.

The internet brings out the worst in everyone. This article is meant to antagonize Tennessee fans and that is the only purpose.

Sports social media is damn near as bad as political social media.

Michigan basically got nothing. They punished people that will never coach in college ever again anyway. They will not pay the money. How is that enforceable without a court ordered judgment and even then how do they collect?

Ridiculous take. Pruitt was caught paying players with a tiny fraction of what players get paid today. Something that every team in the country was doing...including Michigan. Pruitt just sucked at it. Michigan did something to compromise the fairness and integrity of the game and won a national championship by cheating. Not only to gain an advantage in their own games but to interfere with the integrity of other games. This was the most egregious case of cheating in the history of the sport and it was met with a slap on the wrist. NCAA has no ability to control anything that doesn't happen between the sidelines.

Tennessee lost 30 scholarships. Michigan none

Tennessee had to vacant wins. Michigan didn’t.

Tennessee was fined $8+million dollars on post season revenue. Michigan fined $30 million of their post season revenue.

There’s not a school in the country that would agree to take Tennessee’s punishment over Michigans.

As people, they’re fine. As sports fans, they’re the worst of the worst (them or UGA fans). Period. Live in Michigan for a few years like I did and get back to me. And I’m talking about UofM fans, not MSU.

We ā€œgot offā€ because we cooperated with the investigation, came clean and fired our coach and other offenders. Donde Plowman was a rock star in our situation and handled it beautifully. Michigan went 0 for 3 on those counts and should have been stripped of the title. Everybody knows it except for Michigan fan. Even Jim Harbaugh knew because he got of town as soon as he could to avoid facing the music.

I will say I was disappointed in both Marty and McGee’s take Saturday. Both defended Michigan keeping the title.
