Vols Going with Nike

Really? Call B.S. all you want. Doesn't change facts. This is my last post, I guess facts are not welcome here.

Hey 49, let the sh!t you read from some of these idiots slide. If Peyton Manning was on here there'd be a few on him tell him he's full of crap and F off. Just the way it is.

You're always welcome on here, glad you're willing to come on and provide good information about your boy and other potential recruits. Hope you'll keep posting and sure hope that Peyton Williams is a vol one day soon.

Last year we were 15th in the nation in merchandise royalties. (1.) The University of Texas at Austin (2.) The University of Alabama (3.) University of Notre Dame (4.) The University of Michigan (5.) University of Kentucky (6.) Louisiana State University (7.) University of Florida (8.) University of Georgia (9.) University of North Carolina (10.) The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville (11.) The University of Oklahoma (12.) Texas A&M University (13.) University of Wisconsin (14.) University of Nebraska (15.) University of Tennessee

By the way, in 2008, we were 9th. If we win, we AIN'T no second tier school.

Not saying we are second tier, I just don't think we are a national brand.

I saw Darren Rovell tweet something about how the fact that we're only receiving $7.6 million in cash over 8 years shows how far we've fallen.

We're receiving a better deal than Alabama, which has a $30 million deal with Nike over 8 years. This includes the cash payment that Nike pays out. We're getting $1 million per year for the first 4 years, with $900,000 per year after that. By comparison, Alabama is receiving a cash payment of $750,000 per year.

Actually, we're even receiving a better deal than Oregon, who is getting $22.7 million over 8 years. They're getting a cash payout of $500,000 per year.

VolQuest.com - Vols to 'just do it' in 2015

The deal is for 8 years and $35 million.

- Tennessee keeps more revenue from apparel sales with this deal (13% vs. 9% for Adidas).
- Tennessee will receive a $2 million signing bonus on July 1, 2014, plus $800,000 in gear in the first year to help with the transition.

It also appears that Tennessee is switching to Nike footballs and basketballs.

- So adidas was not giving us any cash like nike is offering?

"Also, worth noting obviously any changes in uniforms in any sport has to be agreed to by the University of Tennessee. " This is good enough for me

Yea we are getting a better deal and great but one thing we need to watch is when alabama and oregon contracts are coming up for renewal, 'cause that is going to be a pretty hefty bump next time.

I believe Adidas was offering $1.1 million per year, according to the VQ article, but UT officials said that the Nike deal was more comprehensive in terms of the overall product and marketing, among other things.

Hmm..... Interesting..... that is more than $1 million spread yearly between adidas and nike...... lets hope the more "comprehensive" contract is good enough to cover that 'cause we are not doing so great financially to leave that much money on the table.....

Hope they paint the helmets to look like coon skin caps and incorporate more checkerboard in everything.
