Vols Going with Nike

If what I was just told is true, then Nike came back back recently with an offer that far surpasses anything they had ever presented to us before and will put us in the top 5-7 contracts in the country.

I said for years I'd be stunned if that happened and we would have to take less to change. I think I'm officially stunned.

If the terms I was just given are true, then Dave Hart is some kind of wizard. In a very good way.

I hope this is right. And I hope, based off all the apparel discussions in the past, that we retained some measure of control over our look. That's always been the thing that stuck most in my craw about going with them, hearing about how they treat others in certain arrangements, and it's my hope UT has entered into a deal that they can be a partner in, rather than a contractual obligation. Anyway. Guess we'll find out soon.

I heard from a guy that knows a guy that it has been scientifically proven that 78% of the 5 star talent are adversely affected by 3 lines on their shoes. The 3 lines creates an optical illusion of being slow and thus creates doubt that plays can be made. 83% of 5 star talent prefer a swoosh as it resembles a smile and thus creates confidence in play-making ability.

AJ agrees with this message!:good!:

Bingo. I really don't want to see our beloved Vols pimped the way Phil Knight has done with Oregon. *gag*

Considering Butch was as Central Michigan with Adidas and was part of Cincinnati signing an extension with them a year ago, I'm going to say he does not "hate" Adidas.

He certainly was not opposed to a change, but he wasn't the driving factor.

Those lying bastards!!

VolQuest.com - Vols to 'just do it' in 2015

The deal is for 8 years and $35 million.

- Tennessee keeps more revenue from apparel sales with this deal (13% vs. 9% for Adidas).
- Tennessee will receive a $2 million signing bonus on July 1, 2014, plus $800,000 in gear in the first year to help with the transition.

It also appears that Tennessee is switching to Nike footballs and basketballs.

One thing in this thread I noticed folks referring to Tennessee having a good thing with Adidas parred with schools like Michigan & Notre Dame.

You should know that Notre Dame jumped ship from Adidas to Under Armour a couple of weeks back.

Is it possible now to have a Nike camp/combine (Basketball or Football) on campus?

I was just thinking the same thing! Would be awesome if we could host a Nike camp!

I have 2 Nike golf shirts i really like. I've had them for a few years and holding up nicely. I don't have a gripe with their quality. For shoes I prefer New Balance, but I like Nike as well.
