'MuricaNike has been the "cool" brand since the late 80s/early 90s and they continue to be. They have an unparalleled pr machine that's convinced young kids for 20+ years that their shoes aren't the best but they'll make you cool so buy them anyway. And that resonates with football and basketball recruits. It will be fine. I'm looking forward to what they bring to the table. Besides, wouldn't all you patriots want your team decked out in gear from an American company, not a German one?
Not true at all.
I personally think some of the opposition to Nike is because some people like to oppose what they think are fads just because they dislike fads. Nothing more, nothing less.
Unfortunately, when you are trying to appeal to juveniles, fads are all that matter.
For example, my daughter wants an Iphone. I have had Verizon salesmen and US Cellular salesmen explain to her that Samsung Galaxies are better. She still wants the I phone.
Why? To be "cool".
