VOLS: "Full scale 5 alarm dumpster fire"

Are we just totally ignoring the devastating injuries this team has had? Please give me a reason why we should. I have NEVER been one to use injuries as a legit excuse. ALL TEAMS have them...but when I hear of national outlets and guys like Finebaum not even give the injuries any credence at all...maybe I am giving Butch more slack than he deserves.
Injuries explain ATM and Bama. They do not explain USCJr which remains inexcusable

Lulz if you're gonna make fun of some at least be smart enough to use proper grammar.

Dang man, you got me soooo good! Oh snap...I forgot an "E" while typing with my thumb. Shhheeezz I am embarrassed. I have to disappear from the board for a while guys...man I feel so stupid for leaving of that "E" on a message board. Oh well good "by" for now.

Agree also. If Dobbs has protection and not having to run for his life the entire game and worry about 7 guys in box all coming all out against him, he may just show more of what he is capable of. It all starts with the lousy Oline play. Even Peyton would struggle behind this OLine.

I agree that the OL has been bad, but the reason we see 7+ guys in the box is because Dobbs is not a good passer. When you watch the games, listen to the announcers and you will often hear about a bad throw, a poor decision on where to throw it, a decision to hold the ball too long, etc.

Every snap is from the shotgun giving Dobbs extra time to throw as you eliminate the drop back. Dobbs does a poor job reading defenses, cannot throw the ball with any consistency over 8 yards, and often forces throws due to a bad read or a bad decision. He has 11 INTs and a number of fumbles already this year and is, statisitically speaking, having the worst season of his career as his adj QBR is nearly 20 points below last year (Joshua Dobbs Stats, News, Videos, Pictures, Bio - Tennessee Volunteers - ESPN).

Peyton Manning, in his college days, would not struggle nearly as much with this line. He has a quicker release, reads defenses much, much better, could throw all passes in the passing tree, audibles to change to passing plays when facing 7+ in the box, etc. How many times do you see Dobbs throw deep to our receivers when you see man coverage without safety support over the top? Many QBs would make that throw to allow the receiver to make a play or at least knock the ball down.

Our coaches have no faith in Dobbs passing the ball until we get behind in games and have no choice. To me, it looks like we play to keep games close and only gamble throwing the ball downfield when we get significantly behind. This style demonstrates the lack of faith in our passing game and the fear of turnovers. Dobbs does a good job with his feet, but I don't think he makes correct decisions on the zone read plays either. It looks like most are actually called handoffs or keeps as opposed to actually reading the defense.

Did Dobbs bring us back in several games this year? Absolutely!! However, we may not have been in that position of needing a comeback without the turnovers and lack of a passing QB.

Why has ole miss not received the same or worse treatment. They are 3-5.
Will they destroy A and M if they lose to a bad miss state team or if auburn were to lose to Vanderbilt?

Never been a "espn hates Tennessee" guy, but it sure does seem like they are quick to pounce on us

I agree with you. Several teams lose games they should not, such as OSU losing to PSU. Conference games play out that way sometimes. We should not have lost to SC, but we did. It TN had been playing well all season and still had a screw up in that game, then I could accept easier. The fact is that we have not played four quarters of football in any game this year and typically play about 1.5-2 quarters of good football per game.

ESPN likes to create discussions and controversy on their show to get people fired-up. The same thing happens on virtually all news channels.

What happens when UT lands in the SECCG?

I would ask what year but it's probably closer to ask what century?

This team had one shot and it was this year. We are not like the Alabamas of the world where they just reload and keep winning. The cupboards will be bare of experience and talent next year and with such talented 3 stars and a coaching staff with such a proven record of developing talent I am betting on the century.

BTW don't count on a Vandy win they are tied at the half with a much better than us Auburn team ON THE ROAD.

I agree 100% , Dobbs is the root of the offensive issues, Defenses are crowding the box and paying little attention to the pass. Defenders are following his JDs eyes to the ball. Its hard to place all the blame on the OL when so much pressure is coming and they are out numbered on every play. In the 'comebacks' the coaches started running Dobbs when they got behind which spread the field horizontally and opened up the running between the tackles and they started throwing down field beyond 15 yards , which seemed effective.
This article is an example of what has been happening all season: Vols Film Study: Looking at Dobbs' Interceptions - FOX Sports Radio Knoxville

The bigger question is why are the coaches asking him to run THIS offense? Why have they not taylored the offense to his skill set ?

I'm not pulling for this outcome, but Butch will be fired after we lose to Vanderbilt.

I don't know if he will be fired, but Vanderbilt will beat this Vol Team. So, if you think things are bad now, save your energy....you will need it.

That back pocket is getting pretty crowded.

Butch is a joke, and everyone sees it but the flock. It's turning into Dooley, all over again.

You guys can continue to get nasty, but Butch well not get it done. He can't handle the players. He can't handle Muschamp. He can't handle expectations.

Turning into Dooley? omg. You should be banned off this site until you can learn some things.

Heres why:

6-7 3-5 conference
5-7 1-7 conference
4-7 0-7 conference

You have proved your math skills stink.

You guys are a pathetic lot..... what if the Vols win out? You still want to fire a coach that went 9-3 with all of the injuries to IMPACT players?
