VOLS: "Full scale 5 alarm dumpster fire"

Finebaum has been bought by ESPN and we all know how ESPN feels about Tennessee. For the last 20 years, ESPN has searched high and low to bash Tennessee when ever possible. They costed Manning the Heisman Trophy and called Tennessee "trailer trash”. Who give a big rat's azz abut what ESPN says??

Where are their comments about had badly Georgia has played this year? We also beat one of their favorites, Florida.

Speaking of Georgia, I talked to a big Georgia fan this morning and their fans are really upset with their offensive line coach, Pittman. They see him as one of the coaches they must get rid of at the end of the season.

ESPN hates us so much we were on Gameday 3 times this year. Cmon. And the reason they aren't all over Georgia is due to the fact they weren't expected to be world beaters coming into the year. First year head coach Freshman QB. We were primed and ready to take the East finally again but our esteemed leader tripped over his own flute again.

I would hope they play better due to being a bit more healthy. My guess is Bama will still be in our backfield the entire game.
Assuming Bama wins the west. LSU beats 'em the stage is set for Auburn to beat them too and I feel Auburn has the tie-breaker over LSU. This is the way I'd like to see it play out over there. Just don't like Kiffen and Saban being on top continually. As for UT may as well wait another year because of the buyout and no Chancellor and AD being in place. If anything, taking everything into consideration, let's say CBJ and Debord decide the offense needs to change and as a result Debord takes over the OL which is his responsibility now. Then CBJ promotes Azzanni to OC and playcaller. Then he hasn't done anything. If UT goes 9-3 and is fortunate to make SECCG and they win that game all is well. If they lose that they're 9-4 heading to bowl game. I've lost confidence in UT's offense but they come back and perform well it seems as with last two bowl games. The real deal is whether CBJ will bring in new OC and let him tweak the offense the way the new OC wants to. I think we need new OC,new OL coach, new QB coach, new secondary coach. If we don't make any changes and our offense plays poorly next year, he'll be forced to make the needed changes.I, for one, due to SC loss feel we've under-achieved this year based on the talent we have. We had a healthy enough team to beat SC and no excuse except talent isn't being coached up to the level needed to be competitive in the SEC. GBO!!!!!!!!:twocents:

GOOD!

Keeping him around another year isn't the answer and I'll tell you why. We are losing a lot of players after this season. This was the perfect storm year.

We lose 2 players that have played in every game. Calm down it's not the end of the world. We lost one game we shouldn't have on the road by 3. JG will be a better version of Dobbs. We could actually improve next year.

It was over for us when Peyton graduated too. Every team outside of a handful , every year , loses a game they are no supposed to.

The injuries , while not an excuse , are a reason. This level of injuries would affect any team in the country,

He has to win out in my mind. This would be an improvement and a reason for optimism.

Because that moron has both feet out the door already. And if you think Butch is the guy you are clearly no more of an expert than I am IMO. I didn't say I was an "expert" I was asked for a list and I threw one together. I could put 100 people on it ahead of Butch Jones. It's my opinion and I'm certainly entitled to it just as you are yours.

You must be from Greenville and have your mind clouded by Greenville’s high school team this year. They are scoring points like crazy. It will be interesting as the playoffs proceed.

Yep, that was when they wanted to take advantage of the comeback wins and before half the starters were out with injuries. They are fair weather fans just like many of the so-called Tennessee fans who post on this board.

You guys that always want to trot out our massive amount of injuries seem to forget that we were nearly 100‰ healthy in the first three games, and still played just as poorly as we did in every other game afterwards.

Look at the stats this year, losing to USCe is not going to go down a as a fluke at the end of the season, sneaking by App State, VTs fumblitus, and the hail Mary win against GA are the flukes. We haven't played good football this year, and our stats overwhelmingly show that.

OMG .

You and Train should take a cruise together get drunk and enjoy life for a few days.

Does it matter? I'd take the ghost of Buddy Ebsen at this point. We have not developed players here. But if you want a "list" here is a list - in no particular order - of coaches that I think we could get that would be better than Butch Jones.

Gary Patterson
Larry Fedora
Ric Flair
Bob Stoops
PJ Fleck
The Wendy's Girl
Chris Petersen
Paul Chryst
Linus Van Pelt
Mike MacIntyre
Les Miles
Chevy Chase
Jimbo Fisher
Bobby Petrino
The Shamwow Guy
Matt Rhule
DJ Durkin
Teddy Ruxpin

It's a little hard to see your arguments as credible when you respond with this kind of drivel

Journal entry 11/5: Gameday was really mean to me. I need to analyze this down the road. I am trying to build a program brick by brick, maybe starting with the roof was a bad idea. I hate gameday, herbie is mean and corso is stupid who cares about those guys anyways. I have to go study film on an incredible TN Tech team. They will present challenges and we will need to play with resolve and resiliency Good by until tomorrow Journal...Love, Lyle

Great post

We don't win FL, GA, or even come close to A&M without Dobbs.

Agree 100%. Dobbs is not as bad as everyone is making him out to be. I feel he has kind of help hold the team together. This season could be a lot worse than it is.

I want Butch to succeed. If he doesn't win out then we could lose recruits. Then if he starts out bad next year the new AD could replace him. We could be waiting another 4 years. Just Win!

It doesn't take 4 yrs. for every coach to turn a program around.

Yeah , Dobbs, JRM, Sutton, Kirkland, TKjr, Malone, , Jennings. None of those guys have improved over their careers at all.

I don't know if you were being folksy, but the ones in bold have not.

I know you're going to say Sutton, but he was playing unlike himself in the games he played. I think i remember a few people on the board say something about it.

Butch has not really developed anyone.

Who cares what Gameday thinks? I like Herbie but other than that the team is filled with a hacks. Corso is gimmick and the rest of the team is filled with "all-star" college players who couldn't make it in the NFL.

I will say though, I still watch it every Saturday morning. The show in all is a well done spectacle, and I love looking at the signs each week.

Rumor has it that Butch Jones was pecked in the eye by a chicken and has temporarily lost his sight, but Butch won't confirm the injury:eek:lol:

When we beat out Colorado for Butch that was all I needed to know. When he leaves and the roster actually has some offensive lineman and a little talent for the next guy then I will consider his time here a success.

Colorado should send Dave Hart a thank you note. They are much better with MacIntyre than they would be right now with The Flutist.

I definitely don't agree with Sutton. The guy has gotten better every year. The interception he had at app state may have been the best of his career. TK.. jury is still out for me. Just don't know. Dobbs probably has gotten better each year, but it's all over shadowed by the fact that his passing hasn't.

Agree also. If Dobbs has protection and not having to run for his life the entire game and worry about 7 guys in box all coming all out against him, he may just show more of what he is capable of. It all starts with the lousy Oline play. Even Peyton would struggle behind this OLine.

At this point he needs to go. He's whining about feeling underappreciated. Boo hoo he has 4 freaking million reasons not to feel underappreciated. When you are winless in your lifetime against Muschamp and gave Derek Dooley his signature win against you then I can't feel sorry for you. You sell cliches and smoke and mirrors and eventually it will bite you in the hind end.

:hi:

this post makes a lot of sense....the USCe game was the last straw for me.....truly poor all the way around:salute:

Our only hope is Butch making a lateral move at the end of the year due to fans not being happy with him. Otherwise, we are looking at another crash and burn of the UT football program. If he leaves, we still have enough pieces to compete for the east next year with a good HC. Jones isn't the guy, it is no longer a wait and see type of scenario.

Peyton wouldn't even agree to play behind this O-Line. Hell I wouldn't want to play behind this O-Line if I knew I was going to be killed. That's a lot of the problem right there.

Reece Davis just now on ESPN Gameday.
Finebaum says we could easily be 1-7.
Pollack: "u return 18 starters and can't win the east, if not this year, when will they ever win it".
Butch being blistered over Hurd loss and team chemistry.

*On edit - I'm just the messenger here. I never said I agree with these statements. Just letting Vol fans know what was said about our program this morning on Gameday.*

It is absolutely true.

I got scolded for bumping old topics last year when I was making my arguments against the head flutist. So I won't - but I did say last year when I was shouting from the highest rooftops that he's never been the guy - that he would probably fool around and go 9-3 this year and that would be his ceiling. This year was without a doubt the best chance this bozo ever will have to win even a divisional title in the SEC and he blew it like a lot of people thought he would.

Keeping him around another year isn't the answer and I'll tell you why. We are losing a lot of players after this season. This was the perfect storm year. Next year it will be a rebuilding year. And when you have a rebuilding year with a guy that trips over his own flute at least once or twice a year it will be disaster. We already have a whole bunch of 3 stars committed for the upcoming class and no 5 stars. If they lose to Missouri, Kentucky, or Vandy that list will shrink. And if we keep him here it will be a down year in recruiting. Then, when the inevitable happens next season and we open up with a loss against Georgia Tech and it goes completely toxic around here and then he loses a few more games and gets fired that will be two years in a row with subpar classes. He could be a lame duck coach after the first game next year. Which will make it more difficult for the guy replacing him to fix.

You only have so many years to use the cliches as crutches until, at the very least, SEC East Championships are expected. Thankfully we got that big trophy against Virginia Tech. And hey, in his own words, we are bowl eligible again so let's pop the cork on that champagne.

I never supported this guy as a hire and he never gave me one indication that he was the right guy for the job. I just hope to God when Blackburn comes (hopefully) that mediocrity will no longer be tolerated at the University of Tennessee. Butch Jones can't get the job done.

Someone says change offensive coordinators. What good will it do? Jones has a system that he is live and die by. No matter who the OC is it's going to be his baby. As he said from jump street, "the process is infallible." ANYONE who believes their process is infallible and not willing to change is an egomaniac. Maybe the saving grace will be that he knows what he is and that he just hit his ceiling here and will bolt for a similar paying job elsewhere claiming he wasn't wanted here and he can sell that same horsecrap to the next school he goes to.

No, no it's not. Playing winning football requires a team to outplay their opponent, not rely on catching all of the breaks and hoping for your opponent plays poorer than you are to pull off a win.

The whole "a win is a win" mindset is only relevant during the season if you are talking about rankings, how you win is a clear sign of player development, preparation, and game day coaching all of which CBJ has failed at this year.

It is simple to understand. . . Winning results in a win, losing does not.

Yeah changing coaches on a yearly basis worked well for us didn't it
