Vols flip 4-star OT

We are set on the O-Line for the foreseeable future. The SEC is won in the trenches and we are stacking some serious talent.

GBO
I hope they come out strong to start the season, but it wouldn't surprise me that it takes about midseason for this year's o-line to get going really good. Lots of new faces but honestly that's not a bad thing IMO. I liked the guys we had on the line the last couple of years but they seemed to hit their ceiling two years ago in pass protection.

A lot of Clarksville kids only live in TN a few years due to Ft Campbell, so no strong VOLS allegiance for most. I taught HS there for 5 years. Those kids who haven't been in TN that long hated everything about it. Nature of the beast. They hated it because they didn't want to be here for one reason or another.
I see this as a big recruiting victory for the VOLS.

Lol. Tackle and guard are not usually interchangeable.

???

It is common for college offensive linemen to be able to play at both the tackle and guard positions
. This versatility, often called "position flexibility," is valuable in college and is highly sought after by NFL scouts.
Here's why this positional versatility is so important:
  • Maximizing the best five players: Coaches often prioritize getting their five best offensive linemen on the field. Having players who can shift between tackle and guard allows a coach to find the best combination of players to form the strongest offensive line.
  • Differing skill sets: While tackles and guards have different primary responsibilities, players with the right combination of skills can succeed at both. Tackles typically need to be more athletic to deal with speedy edge rushers, while guards must be stronger to handle larger interior defensive linemen.
  • Increased draft value: A college offensive lineman who can prove they can play multiple positions is more attractive to NFL teams. Having the versatility to play both guard and tackle significantly improves a player's chances of being drafted, even if it's as a backup.
  • Easier position switches: Some college tackles who have shorter arms or are slightly less athletic for an NFL-level tackle might get moved to guard at the professional level. Playing both in college prepares them for this transition.

Dayum. Some schooling going on up in here! Great work. Hopefully someone lernt sumthin’…

Texans just moved Tytus Howard, started preseason inside at right guard, back to right tackle, his natural position, due to injury. Some guys can do it.

An anchor left tackle is usually an anchor left tackle. Cant say i ever recall the Texans moving LaramyTunsil inside while he was there. Anchor Left tackle protecting The Commanders QB Jaylen Daniels.
