I love these posts. They really show that Debord isn't completely at fault a lot of the time. Execution is a major issue.

yeah good plays, bad decisions by Dobbs. If he had checked down to Kelly we might not have made a 1st down, but we still could punt and play for field position.
He just waited too long on Smith. Just too indecisive.

I agree with everything Seth wrote in his analysis. I am not a student of the game. I cannot dissect the play like Seth can. But i know enough to know those 2 interceprions were ridiculous for a Senior QB to make. SJT has posted many times that Dobbs hesitates, does not lead receivers, does not throw them open, and frequently makes the wrong read. Seth just validated everything SJT has claimed. UT's offense is Dobbs. When he cannot (with poor Oline play) or does not have a good game, our offense is really bad. If this is coaching, or lack thereof, we are in for a lot of inconsistency and frustration in our future. It's difficult to discern if it is Dobbs or coaching because we never see other QBs run the full playbook.

I always enjoy these posts. Thanks for being equitable and explaining bad plays as well as good ones.

Stating that this is most likely Dobbs' worst game is an understatement. I thank the guy for his many, many contributions to the program and the University but I think the TTU game is the perfect opportunity to bring the the next man up and let him take the helm.

Although nobody has really talked about it - if you watch the SC game - Dobbs had the same look on his face and attitude and Hurd.

Dobbs, while typically very energetic and passionate and engaging with his teammates was none of the above. He was secluded, isolated, and an individual.

To me - this is a significant issue. I hadn't seen this attitude from a UT QB since Tyler Bray vs Kentucky.

Please don't post these kinds of replies. The pitchfork brigade is now searching for your IP address. If you don't have something bad to say about our coaching staff then keep your mouth shut.

And now we're getting to the heart of the problem...without question Dobbs has won games for us. Unfortunately he's also lost games for us. He is waaayyy too turnover-prone.

The question is - does this staff really believe he's the best QB on roster and play him out of necessity or have they just been unable to properly coach him?

This issue is far more concerning to me than the Hurd mess. A (very smart) Sr QB in his 4th year of system, yet he still makes silly freshman mistakes at crucial times?

They were both mad about the same thing. Dobbs was having a bad game and they knew if he didn't snap out of it they would both lose. He did and we all lost.

All there hopes and dreams revolve around the ball, and Dobbs kept giving it away. He was grumpy.

Mark my words, "Dobbs is our quaterback" and may end up being the reason we are looking for a new coach come December if he plays like he has the last two games.

So you're saying the receivers let up on routes, and caused the interceptions on purpose because Dobbs wouldn't share his test answers.

I was sitting high in the end zone Saturday night looking straight downfield and from that angle it was almost shocking how late Dobbs was trying to throw it downfield. It's like he knows the offense but the game is moving to fast and he doesn't trust his reads.

Coach is correct when he says his team lacks consistency in play and I can feel it. Not sure if chemistry, too tight, injuries, etc. I'm ready for some changes and move on. A lot of returning juniors and seniors. Need to get them well and build for the future while winning last four games plus bowl. Good analysis of Dobbs in a bad game. Dobbs went from hero and hail Mary's to goat last week. Feel for him. Great student and person. I'm gonna trust CBJ to do what is right here.

I good ambassador for TN football, has poured his heart and soul into TN football and has a bright future outside of football. As far as a QB he is average, good legs and elusive but extremely inconsistent with passing and too many turnovers, ints and fumbles.

Really wish him the best. He just is not a very good QB.

Yes and well said ...but we have to ask why a QB of such limited passing ability is handcuffed to a layered west coast passing scheme and not a scheme that incorporates and takes advantage of his running ability as well as the abilities of the former Vol Hurd

Dobbs has always been very slow to pull the trigger. Timing breaks down and coverage closes. I don't think he trusts himself to hit a moving target. He seems to wait until the receiver slows or stops to get rid of the ball.

Dobbs has great football talent, but not at QB.

He breathed new life into the team when he replaced Worley in 2014. If it wasn't for him we'd have been sitting at home for the 4th year in a row. I'll fully admit he's lost us a couple of games, but he's won us a lot more.

I agree..at least give backup some meaningful snaps.

I don't have time to look up Dobbs passing attempts and rush attempts to this point from last year and compare them to this years, I bet that would look a lot different. I believe they've asked a little much of Dobbs this year. He doesn't read coverage well , part of it is probably Oline. A lot of times he just made a bad choice though. He's been a turnover machine this year. Doesn't hit his check downs much. That would require him looking at more than one read. He usually throws to his first one. He's easy to scheme. These D-coordinators are no dummies, they see that.. Muschamp took advantage of Dobbs doing just that Saturday night. The trigger man has a lot to do with our woes.
