Per Bruce Feldman:

This is one thing that makes me feel better about Dooley... I may not be totally sold... but I am wavering

And.... I'm hoping you have a point in there somewhere.

In any event, I'm not so sure that another school sent a list with EVERY name on it. This was an in-your-face shot that we are coming after each and every one of them. We already got one, and let's hope for as many as we can get that will upgrade our roster. Bold, yes. Brash, yes. And I, for one, am loving it, and am not going to go all "Eeyore" about it.

Now, let's go win some games and make a step forward next fall. That is the true measuring stick.

I was responding to a very specific post. Maybe reading that would help you understand.

The point is that this wasn't some calculated brash move to stick it in anyone's earhole. This was smart recruiting to open the door for any potentials. Every team that has has needs and room sent the same letter would be my guess.

Haters gonna hate. I am happy we are getting some good depth on the DLine. Regardless of what some people say, he is talented and will help us on the field

They have 3 players on their DE depth chart 245 or less. They would most likely use one of those 3 in a 3rd down situation.

why? If he has wheels, weight is immaterial. Given the size at which he was recruited and the way they have employed him to date, I have to assume that pass rush off the weak side is his specialty.

Dude had 3 tackles in the bowl game.. And according to usc website it says he would have competed for a starting job. Where you getting your info from?

A Rivals article. However , I see now that the info on the bowl game was inaccurate.

where does that info come from?

It does vary from this info (from Volquest I believe)

As a sophomore last season, Jackson was used primarily in third down situations and recorded 18 tackles, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and two pass deflections. Jackson finished spring practice in Los Angeles second on the depth chart at one of the defensive end positions and the Northridge, Calf., native just felt like a change was needed.

He was projected to start this year according to the afternoon crew on sports talk today. He was only a sophomore last year for goodness sake. If this was a high school 4 star DE would you be as unhappy?

Seriously, this is getting ridiculous.

U and about 2 other posters on this site are why people are leaving these boards. Can u not be happy about anything? Are u hoping for the program to fail so u can have your "i told u so" moment? gtfo if your not a fan

I call things as I see them. I'm sorry I'm not happy about where our football program is right now. I'm also sorry I don't have the same opinion as you. If you're so concerned about what other posters post, why are you here?

More logic:yikes: If there were no other posters, wouldn't we all be staring at a blank screen?

neither am I, but at least we are doing something to fix the problem.

What would be your solution?

BPV nailed it. I'd hope any coach who knows what they're doing would be targeting USC players qualified to transfer.

The Trojans roster is stacked with D-I quality starters 2-3 deep.

Please point out where I said that. I just find it amusing that people think they've "gotten back at Lane" by getting him, when he wasn't even starting at USC.

On the defensive line, a 2deep guy is as important as the starter, imo.

2010: Jackson will compete for key playing time at defensive end as a junior in 2010.
from USC website

as in KEY situations when you need your best players on the field, like when the game is on the line.

they have 3 DE left... how does that not hurt Kiffin

What's the deal with all the 'girls' around here? And by 'girls', I mean negative nancy's. Most of the negative people seem to be the ones that have been posting here 30 times a day for half a decade. Cool... if I'm that bitter and pathetic in five years, shoot me.
