Vols Favored in Every Game of 2016 by ESPN

making it to Atlanta, really regardless of the outcome, would still be a successful season.
SEC title, playoff etc...would be icing on the cake, and far from what we should "expect or else" this season.

again, i think we are putting the cart way before the horse. a computer generated FPI in May his hardly what i'd call "punching our ticket".

it's may and some of you have fast forwarded to December and are wondering what would be better...to lose to Bama early and beat them late or beat them twice or hope we play anyone else in ATL......

anyway...that's the kind of stuff we can slow down on as far as i'm concerned.

Agree 100%. Do I think we have the talent/team to go to the playoffs or possibly even win it all? Absolutely. But for that to happen, injuries must be limited, several pieces must fall into place, and the lady-called-luck has to be on our side this season. If we don't win the SEC East, yes that is a disappointment and yes I will question CBJ as our coach... assuming we do, this season will be a good one in my eyes.

I've never known ESPN to be wrong! If you like place a wager-now is the time to go to Vegas and "Bet the Farm"!!!! Can't go wrong with CBJ running things----easy money.

Is this a good thing?

probably not.

we're the only school that everyone hates that hasn't beaten anyone in a decade.

i'd like to say we don't know how this team will react to being a front runner...but in reality, is this really front running?

it's hype. that's all. there's no substance to it until we actually win a game that matters, period.

but if i were GA, Bama, FL aTm, i'd have this plastered on the walls and on the bulletin boards.

why? i don't think anyone really knows how good or bad aTm will be. plus it's at Kyle Field. i think if we lose there it just means we lost a tough conf road game. nothing more.

i do that with Fulmer for the 95-97 teams we fielded. talk about loaded. those three teams were stacked, and while we had good seasons, only 1 SEC title. we were so spoiled back then.

Memphis was just a little more loaded tho.

psht...prime example right there, i was at that game, what a terrible night. i have friends that quit being Tn fans that night...lol. they checked out on Fulmer and didn't return until he was fired.

but that's the kind of thing that can happen when you start reading and believing your own press. everyone telling you how good you are and you play down to an opponent that absolutely hates you.

you can't show up, roll the ball out there and call it a W just because you showed up.

Have the Vols ever (ever) before been favored by any major sporting news outlet or betting house to win every game of the season?

Has this ever happened in our history?

I doubt we were even favored in '98 to win them all, or in '01.

Have we ever been? Even in the Neyland years? Can anyone find any evidence that this has ever happened before?

Im just happy to see that we are favored. I remember when the little schools actually scared me. Whats crazy is i say " remember " like it was 20 years ago. It was 3 - 5 years ago.

not that i'm aware of, and i know we weren't in 98. in 01, FL was an 18 point home favorite......

https://allfortennessee.com/2016/05/17/tennessee-football-vols-favored-in-every-game-according-to-espn-fpi/

ESPN’s Football Power Index has added to the hype behind Tennessee football, as it projects the Volunteers to win every game on their 2016 schedule.

Okay, so this doesn’t translate to an above 50 percent chance that the Tennessee Vols will go undefeated. But according to ESPN’s Football Power Index, they are set to be the favorite in every game as of right now.

After placing the Vols at No. 5 in their preseason poll, the FPI formula now projects Tennessee football as a favorite in every game they play during 2016, yes even against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

They have a 59 percent chance of beating the Tide and a 79 percent chance of beating the Florida Gators. Their two toughest games are projected to be at the Georgia Bulldogs and at the Texas A&M Aggies, where they have approximately a 56 percent and 59 percent chance of winning respectively.

However, their overall projected record is 10-2. That’s because while they are projected to win each of those four games individually, the likelihood of them winning all four games is very slim.

It’s similar to Stephen Curry. If he’s shooting one jump-shot, it’s likely to go in. But the likelihood of him shooting 10 jump shots and all of them going in is much lower.

Still, all the math seems to fall into Tennessee’s favor, which is just another reason to increase the hype behind this football program for the 2016 season.

Between the ESPN FPI and the preseason polls that are coming out this week, Tennessee clearly has the highest expectations they have had in over a decade.

Now they have to do something with it.

While I would definitely take that, I am very poorly making the point that its just pre season...:)

well, in general, i would agree with you. the pre season means nothing. win some games. then thump your chest. all this posturing about this poll, that poll, heisman sleepers, FPI favorites...bah humbug.

i wanna come out of September undefeated, and just see what we're capable of the rest of the way.

being ranked on some poll in May means absolutely nothing.

i guess it can be construed as fun. but i think it will be more fun heading to Athens undefeated....and then to College Station...and then back home for Bama.

that's be a lot more fun.:peace2:

Is there any way that we could collectively get a majority vote to exile D4H? I enjoyed coming to the forum before I had to scroll through his dribbling BS
