Vols fans bashing Vols fans thread (merged)

It's kinda like sitting down and having a bad meal. A couple of bits in and you've had enough. You're sure as hell not going to sit there and eat the whole thing especially if you've had before.

I do not believe that the problem with our program is our fan base. If I or anyone else wants to come, leave and listen to the radio, how is that your business? I do believe that recruits are more sophisticated and are more interested in other details such as the program, coaching staff, how the team plays etc. etc. than whether anyone comes or goes!

I sure hope the retards beat the traffic and got to wherever they needed to be. I usually try to clear my schedule on Saturdays so I can go watch all of the game. If I needed to be at some other place, I wouldn't waste my money to go to the game and leave before it's over. It's embarrassing to watch the fans file out of Neyland in the 3rd and 4th quarter...

So for all the idiots that rush up the steps to beat the traffic, GTFO!!!!!!!!

You have no idea what reason people have for leaving. This is my first Ut game in three years at school that I have left early and there have been some ugly ones. Does that make me not a true fan for leaving?

Sure there are reasons for some to leave, but not a couple thousand all at the same time. But people were running over each other trying to get out of there. Like they couldn't wait to get out. Just think it's a waste of a good ticket. If you don't wanna be there, don't be there. This is just something that gets under my skin. I apologize to the "down in front" crowd if I struck a nerve...

Just throw in my $.02 here ... I was sitting in the Auburn section practically, and they were making comments about us leaving before the game even started. As soon as people started leaving, they were all happy b/c they knew it was coming. I do think UT is worse than most other stadiums that I've been to. My only problem is the message it sends to recruits and the players. I'm sure they notice and care that fans are leaving in the third quarter of a game that is still winnable. For those of you that thought it wasn't winnable, then why show up and why tune into the game once you get to your cars?

What I don't think some people dont realize is that the smart fans don't pay big money to watch same Crompton, different year at Neyland Stadium. Most of us came to that reality at the UCLA game and then when Kiffin wouldn't let Crompton throw at the Gators, this was a clear indication that even he knows Crompton sucks.

So the reason it doesn't fill up and empties out quick is because ticket sales are declining and you have people going because there are tons of cheap tickets available because the demand from smart fans has gone down. So you will have more folks going just for the "experience" that probably don't even know how bad they really are....and likely don't even know this board exists.

Face it, Less than average doesn't sell tickets....excitement does. And as long as Kiffin continues his bull headed approach to not change QB's.... The decline will continue and likely worsen.

As for calling people "retards" lord vader this my friend makes you a racist and biggot of the worst kind. You should go do some "Volunteer" work for the mentally challenged and see why your reference makes you such a coward with little if any character.

I got in right at game time, i was lucky enough to be at a great tailgate and the beer was real cold, as for leaving early, I wish no one would leave, I have never left early except once in when I was a student, and that was a heck of a story, I never leave early, but if you choose to, its your business, pull Crapton and maybe peps would get interested again!!

I am going to the game next week my 1st, I'm driving Thursday from Philadelphia PA spending the night at Virginia Tech, I have a free ticket to the tech BC game waiting for me... but instead of watching the garbage acc, I am driving the extra 3 1/2 hours w/o a ticket to Neyland stadium to watch the great SEC and watch my vols get a W

Ah, VT vs BC will be a better game. I can save you the trip... UT's D will get thrown on all over the place. Our offense will struggle mightily. Crompton will go though the motions with a decent throw or two. You will see several brain dead throws which may or may not be capitalized on by the UGA defense.

Tennessee loses by 10+ and we get to hear about the good things that the team learned from the loss. Not worth it bro.

There's UT's #1 fan!!!! I was wondering where you were. I'm so glad that you're our #1 fan. You certainly live up to the billing. Loyal to the end.

If I go to a movie, and it sucks, SEE YA... I'm not staying through it just because I paid for it.

Ut games are not different. When it's 23-6 with 13 minutes to go in the game... SEE YA. I didn't leave the other day, but I don't blame the people who did.

Wanna keep them in the stands? PLAY BETTER FOOTBALL! And play the players that actually give you a chance to win... NOT Crompton!

Well, like I said in the first post, go to VT vs. BC, and GTFO of Tennessee!!!

The fact that you would compare a MOVIE to a UT football game shows your true ignorance. You think our players and, probably more importantly, the top recruits that we have in town for that game don't notice that and think "Man, if I come here and screw up at all or if we have a bad game, these fans just bail." I've been to tons of other stadiums, and NO ONE is worse about this than UT, and it's annoying. Thanks for making my point as to the ignorance of our fanbase.

I have not posted on here in a week or so due to the garbage going back and forth last week from both sides but I wanted to post a thought or two since I just got back home.

The UT fans (mostly alum) sitting around us were LOUD and awesome and very few left..The ones that did were in their 70s and they've paid their dues and shouldn't be judged...The student section was WEAK and was booing way too much...Based on the way the Vols were playing (no quit and a lot of heart) I thought it was unnecessary and I thought the students were behaving in a very bammerish way. It should be noted that the booing I mention was booing of players not named Crompton.

My wish going forward for each alum/other UT fan sitting around me is for them to personally know at least one of the needle $%$ students that behaved this way so they can call them out/put them in their damn place in three years when UT is challenging for the east year after year yet again.

Good luck the rest of the way...I hope you get bowl eligible and get things going again soon!

Hey, I'm a big fan of steve carrel (sp?) from the Office... Well if he makes a bad movie, which he has, I'm not gonna PRETEND to like it just because I'm his #1 fan... No different... If the product on the field sucks. I'm not gonna pretend to like it. And as long as cromptons out there, I won't be back to a game.

Again, comparing the movie industry to UT football. Keep going... that ignorance hole that you're digging is getting deeper.

It would be awesome if being a die hard Vols fan automatically cleared my life of any other obligations. It doesn't work that way. You don't know what reasons people have for leaving. I left the Ole Miss game one year years ago cuz my brother was rushed to the ER. There are a zillion other legitimate excuses for leaving the game. It is a game--real life happens outside of Neyland, and sometimes you have more important things to do. There is no stipulating small print on the bottom of the ticket that says holder must stay till end of 4th. Get of your high horse jerk.
You know, going back to the dark ages here, there's two methods of getting other people to think what you think. You can show them that your way is the best way of doing things (i.e. peaceful missionaries) or you can murder all the heathens and tell them they're all going to hell in a miute unless they profess love for your god on the spot. Results of the two methods differ.

I agree entirely. Sadly, after reading through 20 pages of this thread, you may be more of a Vol fan than some here.

I think most of us would agree that there are definitely legitimate reasons for leaving a game. But, you can't honestly tell me that thousands and thousands of people have "legitimate" reasons. I only care because of the perception of it. I refuse to believe that recruits don't look at that and think it's not cool. Then, that hurts us down the road.

To be fair, I think his point is that thousands of people didn't have relatives go to the ER at the same exact moment when Tennessee just so happened to be losing.

Also, I can't really come up with a feasible reason why LV would have two names logged in at the same time supporting himself so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. The way the mods tag-teamed him kinna made me lose some respect for this wonderful site. No need for Vol on Vol crime.

All I can say is that I truly truly wish for the true ones that you get one perfect chance to remind one of the naysayers of their words; or in the students case that I described...actions in what I think will be a good year 3 and years following...

That's not a very nice way to think, but I've had that opportunity in the past few weeks with a fan or two of ours and it feels SO GOOD!

Do you really think this is what I'm talking about? The one person or family that gets up and leaves randomly during the game? No, of course not. Get real. I'm talking about the thousands of fans who leave during the 3rd quarter for no reason...

yea they can do what they want it's not my business. if your business is watching the football game, good, that's what i do too, and I don't care who leaves. Sometimes I even get the chance and get better seats in the fourth quarter. I got into a big argument at work a month ago about something not at all sports related, but the bottom line is I hate it when people think they have the right to judge other people's motives.
