Technology ain't it wonderful. I remember the days of stickum. Some had it spread from their forearms up.

Meh. I think everybody is getting too upset about QB practice reports. Aguilar is a gamer and he will be fine on game day. Let's not forget the Hooker's numbers didn't look that good compared to Milton until game day. If you want to worry about something, worry about the WRs. That may be a concern if they don't step it up.

True. I remember Dobbs wasn’t that good in practice either

Seems like 90 percent of practice reports is about passing against air. Hardly nothing on individual units. Merk has problem if he can’t complete more than 6-15 against air. Maybe a few should have been caught but I would almost bet accuracy had a lot to do with that percentage. I highly doubt there were 9 pure drops out of 15. If there was everybody needs to run. I could catch 6 out of 15 if they were catchable passes. Don’t seem like our practice observers are getting to watch much, so it’s hard putting much stock in very limited observations many quarterbacks throwing to receivers with nobody covering them.

Yeah, but maybe we could get some PI’s called on the db’s when our receivers comeback to the ball.

Remember how skinny Tyler Bray was as a freshman? It's been awhile but I'm sure someone remembers how many games into his Freshman season they gave him his first start. I could envision something similar with George. I'm not making a prediction, just pointing out there's precedent.

Joey Aguilar cannot go 3-6 in long balls and then 16-of-18 overall in passes. So, I will just assume he went 15-18. I will take that, especially with receivers who are not reliable thus far.

George MacIntyre completed 12-of-15 passes.

Excited to hear that Start Thomas is looking like a star.

Somebody get these receivers on the passing machines :D This doesn't sound like our QBs other than Merk today.

I think you have to be worried about the combo of both. You say JA is a gamer but there is nothing from his past that indicates that to be true maybe you meant we hope he is a gamer. This offense is going to fragile this fall and is one injury away from being in big trouble IMO.

Dobbs was more of a gamer because his running ability couldn’t be simulated in a practice where you are down if anyone gets close to you. He could pull some Houdini stuff that you can’t account for in practice. With Hooker, I think it was confidence that held him back a bit in practice initially, and he was also a real threat with his legs.

Joey isn't Dobbs but running is a part of his skill set too. Looking back to his 2023 highlights, he kept defenses honest by making them respect his legs.

I think that was part of the problem last year: Nico was fast in space, but he was slow to make the decision to run. He wanted to click through each read first before taking off, often too late to make a difference. Hooker was amazing because he would quickly process the reads and take off with confidence.

That is true, Joey is mobile. He isn’t Dobbs or Hooker, but he does represent a threat when he pulls it down and runs.

Few positives on the secondary in the 2-minute drill since it’s all doom and gloom in here:

1.) Edrees Farooq is ascending at safety opposite Turrentine

2.) McCoy looks better and is doing more in practice than anyone expected at this point

3.) We could be legitimately 4-5 deep at CB this year with Ty Redmond emerging for real playing time and not just mop up duty

Yeah, let's see what happens when those non contact jerseys come off and the bullets really start to fly. JA is gonna have to be relied upon to run it, scramble, make plays with his legs. Just hoping that it opens up other things and take the pressure off. The one thing we know though is, we have a head coach that is going to play to the strengths this team has, which will be the defense and the run game yet again.
