I’m definitely concerned about the WR/QB issue but certainly not surprised. I’m hoping it’s just a timing/chemistry issue that will get worked out. While the WR room is thin, there’s still talent there. Surely they all don’t have bricks for hands.
More time on the JUGS! 👆🏼

Brazzell (Jr) (injured)
Matthews (So) (sore)
Staley (RsFr)
Jefferson (RsFr)
Jackson (Fr)
Smith (Fr)
Dodson (Fr)

Notable Walkons
- Weary
- Winton

TE Depth
Kitz (Sr)
Davis (RsSo)
Brame (Fr)
Van Dorsealar (Fr)

The big question is will we see the freshman TEs more this season or the freshman WRs?
I think Brame and Van Dorsealar are locked in. So you have to feed those guys as both will play heavy roles next season. Even this season too at times.

I think you will see Jefferson and Staley have special roles. Jefferson will be a prime target in redzone area. While Staley will catch bubbles or run deep.

Our air game is so young. Since I’ve been a fan I’ve never seen it this young. Depth is fine.

Look to 2026
Brazzell
Matthews
Staley
Jefferson
Smith jr
Jackson
Dodson
King

Do any of these guys do what Hyatt did when it comes to practicing with the ball machine?

After the Bama game Hyatt could have walked into any public space in Knoxville and been celebrated by everyone present. So where was he?

Hyatt was inside Tennessee’s indoor practice facility, catching balls from a Jugs machine.

DEDICATION

“You can count the number of healthy scholarship players on one hand, and 4 of those 5 have never played a college snap.”

A very comforting statement. Kind of eye opening.
The fact that we didn’t pursue anyone in the portal who had ever taken a snap is malpractice. Idk if you’ll ever see a WR group with less experience in the portal era.

Man, I thought we'd never have to worry about QBs or WRs under Heupel. Sounds like more of the past 2 years coming this season. I know, it's early, things can change, but I hope Mr. Keys comes on up to Rocky Top and that Brandon is everything we wanted out of Imaleavea.

Who would have thought that in WK 1 of preseason camp a QB in a new system, a RSFR and a true FR would have had issues throwing to a bunch of FR WRs but I duly note your exaggeration.
Receivers haven’t been good since 2022 and appear to have gotten worse. We don’t seem to prioritize guys who can catch a football when recruiting receivers.

Drinking from a fire hose never easy. By my count 15 more preseason practice days then some game prep days. Hoping that those days pay off.
There are good reasons why you can tell a first year CDL backing a truck, a first year welder's bead, and a first time parent's freakout.

We don't have time to be young is a tough, tough go against teams that are building on experience but Heupel has surprised us since he got here.
