Vols Fall Practice #3

Wow 9-11 is horrendous? Looks like the receivers have serious work to do. No offense but Matthews looks small, and definitely doesn’t emote 5-star from the eye test.
What size does he need to be for your liking? He’s about 6 - 6’1 and put together really well. I can see you are playing the seeds to trash him as much as possible

Like everyone else, I’m caught up on the fact that two separate guys said the passing drills were horrendous with several drops, then this one dude comes out and says they were 9-11. It makes no sense lol.
4 drops out of 22 passes against air is not good. Potentially some of the catches could have been poorly thrown and only caught because there were no defenders on the route.

Yes Tennessee’s receivers are the only receivers in the history of football to drop a pass. This fanbase will turn on you in a heartbeat if you don’t play perfect.
Yeah, that SEC Air in the building is a heck of a defender so I'll cut them some slack even when it hits the hands. 🙄

Alright you got me. Our receivers are trash. They are the only receivers to ever drop a pass in warm ups. SMH.
Heupel went after them! You trust him, right? He's not Saban in practices yelling all the time but they said he went after them.

Get a clue. There's a reason if Heupel is after them for better performance.

Those bitching about folks being on the WRs for drops should note that Heupel is rarely said to go after guys in practice but today it's reported Coach went after the WRs for focus and drops.

I'll trust Heupel's judgement.
He’s the damn coach!!! I’m sure he’s not freaking out over it like you are. It doesn’t mean Staley and Matthews are bad players like you are implying. I just watched 15 minute video of NFL receivers dropping passes. It happens.

Do I appear to be freaking out by having expectations? My bad. You're overreacting here. I never said nor implied the guys are trash BUT there's expectations. You're an SEC receiver, catch the ball!

If Coach Heupel is on them, it's an event. He's the "Silent Cal" of SEC coaching in practices. So if I echo his sentiment, it's not an indictment, it's what we have seen as a problem in previous years and he's probably as tired of it as we are.

Hopefully its nothing that a few days off can't fix with rehab.
Problem is that we've got guys limited and sidelined and we've not even started hitting yet. I'll be curious to see how things look as we progress thru camp. Just take the a player on each side of the ball that we can't afford to lose and watch for it.

Eric Cain is such a chud. Merklinger and Aguilar go 18/22 at 7am on a Saturday morning and he is ready to declare the season over 😂

The routes on air session with the Tennessee quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends was horrendous. Remember, there’s much more of practice we don’t see, but from what we did in this period – it was not good.

Here comes 6-6!
