Sounds like Trooper WANTED to put his foot in his mouth but caught himself a couple of times. Shifted from saying he thinks we can't cover you man-to-man to saying he doesn't know.

Did I misread. He writes CJ Leak in second year under Meyer? Huh?

Someone might want to mention to Hooker that C.J. Leak WAS a Vol. The guy he's writing about is Chris Leak.

I understand us slipping up on a message board, but these things should be caught when professionals are writing.

It looked to me like Trooper was baiting UF. He's "hoping" they don't double Meachem?... he'd have to be salivating.

Meachum has 50% of the UT receiving yards. You can be pretty sure that he'll be a point of focus by the UF secondary. Whether or not UF decides to double on him will depend on how much success he's having with one-on-one coverage from UF. But given how much of UT's offense goes through Meachum to-date, you can figure that slowing his output down (catches and YAC) will be considered one of the keys to the game by the UF coaches.

I tend to agree.Make someone else beat you.We'll see though!Our rb's will need to be at the top of their game.

Depending on the down and distance, I'd most likely man up on them while doubling Meachum.

There are other approaches that could be taken as well. Just have to see what works.

I hope they double Meachum, that way Meachem will be single covered. I bet Florida's players will know how to spell his name, as they will spend most of their night watching the back of his jersey.

Let's see. Double Meachem, single Smith, single Swain. That's 4 DBs. I'm fine with finding Chris Brown 5-6 times against a linebacker.

What would you say if we said, "We'll just double Percy Harvun?

You'd be licking your chops, right?

Well, if I am Trooper, I do all I can to bait UF into doubling Meachem. Then I put Meachem on the weak side of the formation... and run and pass to the other side until you give it up.

It might be comforting for you to think that UT only has one guy that can hurt you... but when you check out the SEC WR leaders board you find Meachem #1, Baker #4, Swain #7, Harvin #9, Cornelius #16, and Rogers (who has really only had good PT in one game) #22.

It would actually make more sense for UT to try to take Baker away from Leak and make a freshman beat them on a consistent basis than it would for UF to double Meachem and give single coverage to a very talented, experienced senior named Swain.

OTOH, both teams have great players that haven't made their statistical marks yet. Any of them could step up and be the star of this game. I am probably alone in my regard for Wynn. He could step out of the shadows. We haven't seen Hardesty's best yet. Lamarcus Coker is a guy who could be a game changing back.

I seriously doubt that at this point in preparations anything your coaches say can have an effect on "baiting" the Gators. The dies is cast, the lot is thrown. Its all up to the playing, now.

Time will tell..................Although at this point it would appear it would be a "knee jerk reaction" this late.

good defense or not, we just shredded what i still believe is a pretty good defense, and then shredded another (which admittedly wasn't the best.) the point is, until someone stops us, i will continue to have faith in our ability to move the ball through the air. if we establish any kind of running game, it could be a very long day for the gators.

and the defense will have a good game, that much i can promise you
