Vols DC Shoop and his primary interests of the secondary

Has Martin really fell behind a true freshman at this point or is this guy just throwing darts blindfolded?

Unless it comes from the coaches mouths I wouldnt take anything the media says as gospel.

Some clown the other day was saying Foreman was gonna be the #2 corner opposite Sutton when all he does is play inside at nickel.

Buchanan is looking like the steal of this class. Can't believe Martin's stock is falling so fast.

I go by what happens during the game. I could care less about practice warriors. And as of right now I'm skeptical of any praise regarding Moseley.

He was DREADFUL last year during actual games. While Martin was great.

I'll be shocked if Butch and the staff are dumb enough to trot out Moseley ahead of Martin after his disasterous 2015 season.

at times, I also remember him getting beat by Vandy for a TD. and a couple other plays where he gives up. he hasn't proven to be great yet, imo none of our DBs were great last year even Sutton. he makes some great plays then he seems to take off some plays and gets burnt. Idc about the QB making a great throw or the WR making a great catch that happens, Martin gives up some plays.

Buchanan is starting to SOUND a lot like Sutton. first to lose the stripe, low rated out of Georgia, had to fight off a good school to secure his signature, practice warrior.

not saying he will be Sutton levels of good, but there are some comparisons to be made.

Martin gave up big plays against Oklahoma and Alabama too. But I thought he was still adjusting to big boy football. I had high hopes for him. Hope I wasn't wrong. His size and speed are ideal for the position.

adjusting to big boy vs Vandy?

1. that wasn't big boy football
2. If it takes a full year to "adjust" he aint elite.
3. I agree his measurables make a scout drool but we saw how that served North

Martin is an elite athlete, but it's the mental aspect of the game where he is lacking. If he is unable to pick up the new defense that is a major issue. An even greater issue is if he can't "snap and clear".

Not sure what your point is.

Martin is obviously the better athlete at corner. The problem is he doesn't know his assignment all the time. There were times last year where he had little idea of what he was doing but was able to get by on talent alone.

The fact that he's in year two and is still having trouble with that is worrying. He could be the next Patrick Peterson skill wise and it won't matter if he's out of position.

That man never 'learned' how to smile as a child.

Thread should be more about that smile, or lack of one.

More like a grimace.

It's official, Shoop is now known as Grimace.

I'm so excited to see our defense against App State. That was horrific last year to see BG throwing the ball all over our secondary in the first game last year! No way that happens this year!

If the Vols win the east, it will be because of defensive improvements made by BoB Shoop
