Way to go guys. I know it was Alcorn St but these kids played very well and got much deserved wins. Nice complete games from all the team.
GO VOLS!

I haven't had a chance to watch a game this year but follow their record. They seemed to have started slow in scoring but have scored more recently. Is this due to weaker competition or are we getting that much better this soon ?

this weekend was against weaker competition but it still good to see a young team beat the teams they are supposed.

Weaker competion.
Two games remain before they go to Tuscaloosa to play the Crimson Tide. They continue to win they'll be going with a lot of momentum which they'll need.
The Crimson Tide got embarassed last year by the Vols they'll be wanting to return the favor.

Another outstanding win to finish the weekend with a sweep.
In all 3 wins the Vols scored more than 10 runs, won by 7 or more, and were able to produce major innings scoring 3 or more runs. The Vols outscored the Braves 41-10. It's fantastic to not only win but hugely win.

Another valiant effort by the Braves for the 2nd day in a row not quiting got closer than ever 7-4 in the 4th but still couldn't stop the onslaught of the Vols offense.
The win helps improve the Vols to 500 7-7, and their longest win streak of the year.

So just for some perspective on our competition thus far...

This weekend:

UNLV just swept #13 Stanford at their place and are now 13-3. They should jump into the rankings this week.

Arizona State swept a decent LBSU squad that had accounted for Vandy's only loss up until today (where they absolutely handed a game away in the 8th at Oregon). ASU is 10-2 on the year.

Virginia Tech was able to salvage a game at #14 Ga. Tech today to avoid the sweep. The Hokies are 12-4 on the year.

Notre Dame went 2-1 in the Dodgertown Classic, beating USC and #17 Oklahoma, and losing a 2-1 contest to #12 UCLA. 10-3 on the year.

Alcorn State did the best they could. Not sure the games did either team much good other than UT stats. WKU should be a better test.

Looking at the Homeruns hit so far by other SEC teams UT seems to be trailing. Vols have 2 so far. Not much over the fence power shown so far on this team.

I think that stat has to do with the teams we have played.
