Just curious if anyone on here went to the Vols coaches clinic this past weekend and if so how was it?

I didn't go, but by all accounts (twitter) it was a success. The HS coaches were really impressed with the staff....esoecially Pruitt.

From a coach on TOS, he said that the staff is doing a great job and we have nothing to worry about.

I take it that if Pruitt had the Patriots 2011 offense he’d be complaining about how bad his defense was. And if he had the 1990 Bears defense, he’d be complaining about the offense. He’s from the Parcells school of always having something to complain about.

FWIW, a friend who coaches middle school in the Nashville area, and is not a UT fan by any stretch of the imagination, was at the camp and said Pruitt is the real deal.

Good, a coach that doesn't settle for anything but the best.

There is a little different take on this:

He knows what it takes to win.
He wants to win.
When his team does not yet have what it takes to win, he is not happy.

Yep. I also think he is teaching themselves to be self-aware of their performance and to self-critique. I think he can do it, too.

(Themselves? Not sure wmhat my fingers were thinking!)

I heard from some coaches that Pruitt and his staff are really having to dumb it down and teach players basic fundamentals because the previous staff didnt teach them a lot of things.

I don't believe that. They may have to "dumb" down things to implement what they need to implement. The few players that were drafted or signed as UDFA, have done quite well in the league. If you don't like the last staff, that's fine. No need to lie.

You can see that in some of the video coverage from practices. But, it is the coaches obs to teach fundamentals and technique. The problem is that last years staff wasn't big on teaching. No more hype music, it's time to roll up the sleeves and get to work.
