Vols changing sidelines...

I def agree that it's a good move for the team. And the university is not going to move the paying alumni into the sun, so the logical choice is moving the students over. Our students have always had some of the best seats of any student section. But it's hard to ignore the fact that they're getting the short end of the stick on this one.

Once again, the students get bent over by Mike Hamilton. Mike Hamilton has done everything he can to make the student's not want to attend the games. First it came with making them pay for tickets (to pay for Fulmer's raise), from free to the 2nd most expensive in the SEC. Now he is taking away the best seats so he can sell them to season ticket holders to make a little more money.

Feel free to say "Well the student's don’t show up anyways". Why would they? Tennessee new online system is complicated and annoying. The loyalty "point" system has divided groups of friends so students can get the best seats, which are now gone.

I doubt our football team will get as pumped up from the ho hum, very quiet, “SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP” alumni section in the west stands as they will from the student section and band.

Shame on you Mike Hamilton. Anything to make another buck, right?

Get over yourself, man.

They are removing SOME student seats from D and putting them in J and K. At 10.00 a game, that's a savings of 40.00 + off of the season ticket price. Not to mention the 1,000.00 Donation to sit lower level J and K.

This will affect maybe 1/4 or 1/5 of the students at the game. Not a big deal.

In fact, I can't see how ANY student has a problem with something the TEAM (you know, the reason we're there) requested. Anyone that does isn't there for the team, they're there for a booze-fueled social gathering.

This isn't a big deal. Some students will cry and ***** and moan about it, but they are the ones not showing up to the games anyway so who cares what they think.

Do you honestly believe that a coaching staff that hasnt ever been to a game at UT requested this?

I find it much more likely that someone told Hamilton how he could make some more money and he jumped at it.

Do you remember football before 1994? That's when they moved the team over.

If anything we are going back to tradition. Oh, and helping the team. I'm miserable in the August sun, I know the team is.

If we can give our team the advantage every other team in the nation has, it's worth the move. The students can handle moving over a few sections. Really they are just shifting the entire section over one letter.

The team is here for students anyway. Hamilton needs to lose his job. The students are pissed.

So would you rather our players suffer in the heat so the students can be happy? Honestly, if I was still a student there, I wouldn't care where I sat. For me, going to a game has always been about supporting my team. Not about what section I sit in.

If students studied as much as they complained, we'd put out Rhodes Scholars every other year.

This will affect a minimal amount of students. The players are students, but they're not there for just the students. If that were the case, there would be no TV contract, no jumbotron, no upper deck.

We could play our games out at the municipal park off of Sutherland if it were only for students.

The fact is, there are 86,000 people there that aren't students, but this move isn't about that.

It's about getting our team back in the shade for those blistering hot afternoons.

The way we played last year, we'll have a lot of those early games.

I think this is a great move to ensure our team has the best homefield advantage, and that is most important. And only 1000 student tickets affected - hopefully lower few rows (where you cannot see very well anyway) along the East sideline. I believe Florida does this now. Lowering the price in half for students for the big games is a good move as well.

Who cares if some of the students whine about it? It's idiocy to have our team out there baking in the September sun while the Gators are over in the shade. When I was a student, I would have cared a lot more about that than where my seat was.

No. This has been in the works for two years, actually.

Fulmer wanted a way to move back from day one. UT had been on the west sideline from the 1920s-1994, when the rule change was made. Kiffin was a strong proponent of making the change as well. This was set to be announced far before his departure was.

I'm sure you realize the switch was made in 1994 because of SEC rules. The students benefitted at the expense of the team for 16 seasons. They are finally doing what should have been done in the first place.

It'll be nice to have the team run out of the T to the actual home side of the field again.
