Vols Calls

Wow....we lost two games by four points and now we are losing the rest? Sounds logical.....as fir Kentucky? Lol

No kidding. I know the Florida loss was deflating, but it's not like they blew us out.

Kentucky lost to Florida and let aJeff Driskel-led offense score in the 30s, then beat South Carolina. South Carolina AND Missouri are both VERY winnable games. We could still end up with 7 wins. We probably won't, but it's very possible. Just let the season play out.

Not a thing. Just pointing out that UF hasn't just beaten poor UT teams.

Stick your head in the sand much? This was a horrible team we lost to on Sat. Regardless of what UF's record winds up being the team on the field on Sat was bad.

Should we have won that game? Definitely. I would say that the UF team was one of the worst coached teams in a while (Muschamp being the reason), but they still had tons more talent and experience than our guys. To say that was the worst team in that long of a span is an overreaction in my opinion

Show me a worse UF team that UT played. You'll have to go back a long time. You may argue last season, but at least UF could complete a forward pass last year.

That is an interesting proposition.

I think Florida is impossible to evaluate right now. Why? Well, according to Dave Bartoo they are 5th most talented team in the country. Only team we play with more talent is Bama.

Talent Rankings - 2014 - CFB Matrix

To know where to place them historically we have to know exactly how much to subtract from their talent for Muschamp's coaching issues.

That is hard to do, but I will try by using something I'm going to call the Dooley Scale.

A score of 1 Dooley being catastrophic even to Bama's talent. A score of 0 Dooley being equal to 1 Neyland.

I actually think Florida's 2015 staff is more like a .66 Dooley, which probably leaves them in the top 20. We'll see how it plays out though.

For comparison:

Derek Mason: .95 Dooley
Bielema: .45 Dooley
Miles: .33 Dooley
Freeze: .25 Dooley
Saban: .20 Dooley
Sumlin: .15 Dooley
Malzahn: .10 Dooley

TO be fair, 16 of those points were scored during the 3 overtimes

And they managed to lose to the worst UF team since the 70's...that doesn't sound good for the future.

Then become a bama fan..... I would like to see your 18yr old self try to push DL's of the mark who have been intensively weight training for 3-4 years more....

Did anyone ask why he was unwilling to go for it on fourth and two from the Florida 35 in the second quarter? At the point the defense had allowed a total of about 40 yards of offense. He shouldve been able to sense it but it totally sucked the life out of the team and the stadium. We'll never be a great team if we are scared of our own shadow.

I think it is funny how everybody keeps saying "We lost to the worst Florida team ever" like the sky is falling. Yes we did lose to the worst Florida team in a long, long time.

However, its not we are world beaters right now. The Vols weren't #2 in the nation losing to UTC! Come on guys, we are not a great team right now. This was not a huge upset. We lost the game by a play or two.

We will be OK. Yes I would love to have won and believe we should have after watching the game but it wasn't the most earth shattering loss of all time. Florida actually has a pretty good defense themselves.

I'd say the '84, '85, '91, '93, '95, '96, '97, '99, '06, and '07 were pretty good UT teams.

UT losing that game on Sat was unacceptable. Even if UT had won, it wasn't a pretty game...but this team needs to win even ugly games at this point.

God id love to be able to complain about how we shouldve blown a team out..
