Ahmad is definately going to have to gain some weight.. He is rail thin and one big hit from an SEC safety it could be lights out... And then hopefully when he came back to he wouldnt get skiddish...

I think Gerald Jones could have a break out year. Berry could definately have one as well.

I hope Bolden does and wouldnt be suprised if Austin Rodgers steps up real big.

i dont' know who it will be, but on offense, it will be a WR........it has to be.

and on Defense.......does anyone think that a DB couldn't be the break out player? that's where there's the most opportunity to do so.......who of that bunch could break out this season?

Well...the consensus around here will probably say Berry or one of the JUCO's...and obviously you can't say Hef...he's already established.

I'll go out on a limb a little...there was a DB from the 05' recruiting class that had a very good spring this year...I think it was Wardlow. Whoever it was....I know it was a DB from the 05' class....that's who I'll go with. I remember reading some good things about him... but I'm having a brain fart right now as to what his name is.

You may be thinking of Marsalous Johnson

Thats exactly who I was thinking of. In my post I was going to say it was Wardlow or Johnson. Yeah...Marsalous Johnson...that's who I think will break out.

We all are talking so much about Berry, McKenzie, Willingham but Johnson had a heck of a spring. He's a speedster with decent CB size (5'10" 185) and seems to have good cover skills. Now with all that we lost in the off-season he'll get his chance to shine....that's defintely my pick on D.

On O....skill position: O'Neal Lineman: Scott

i really don't consider a freshman to be a breakout player. to me a breakout player is something who has the been there and hasn't done much, but will step it up. but I think a lot of the freshman will have a lot of playing time. I'm hoping we can do some sort of "Wildcat formation" for Gerald!

I think the 3 most important swing players for UT are Bolden, O'Neal, and Berry. If those 3 end up playing well, Tennessee will field a very very good football team.

Agreed. Any further contributions by Martin, Vinson, or Jones are gravy at that point.

I think Vison also should be included on that list. I'm also looking forward to seeing McKenzie in action. I think he could be our next Gibril Wilson.

I said 3. Not 4. :)

O'Neal could easily be replaced with Vinson or Jones. We really only need 1 star WR at this point. Anything more, as Lex said, is gravy.

Well all I know is that the incoming class is filled with talent and speed. Its going to be interesting to see how these guys progress. The speed and talent at wideout is something we havn't seen in a few years. I'm really excited to see Vinson and O'neal because of the speed they bring to the wideout position.(Lets hope their not the next Leonard Scott.:) )

i can agree with that......bolden esp. he needs to live up to the hype. what about Mapu?

i think mapu will have a big year, but you might not consider him a breakout player since he used to be good

O- McNeil, I think he has the potential to be one of the best SEC centers ever. Rogers, if he stays healthy, he'll be productive... and important. Not necessarily a Meacham type but more of Swain and Smith rolled into one.

D- McKenzie... and a corner, probably Berry.

I think Mapu is far less of a question and matters less. Even when he was out of shape in 2006, he was average. Bolden has done nothing, but we realllllllllly need him to be an all around stud tackle.

Hancock - he's going to have a monster year this year.

He'll have to beat out Austin Rogers and Lucas Taylor first. He hasn't done that at this point. I predict those 2 guys will be pretty involved the first few games, along with Kenny O'Neal. Vinson and Jones will be sprinkled in. Later in the season the new guys will start to take away some touches from Rogers and Taylor.
