VOLS BB vs UNC ASHEVILLE

No - I didn't thanks for the laugh though.

I said I didn't have another 3 hours to argue with someone like Johnny.

Just finished a DVR'd viewing of the game.

Nice (ugly) win.

Quick hits:

- We need to back off of the low-percentage threes
- Lofton is streaky but still a bit off
- Prince coming in with a bang
- That guy was tall
- Defense in the half-court is hurting
- What's the newest news on Crews?

Some observations from tonights game

1.Ramar Smith is B.A.D. right now, terrible
2.Tennessee's half-court defense is awful
3.Wayne Chism is still struggling, but not as bad as Ramar.
4.I'm anxious to see Tabb get back healthy and playing, we need him big
5.Hopefully JP Prince can continue to make me look foolish. We'll see how he does against athletic competition before giving out too much credit. He sort of reminds me of Stanley Asumnu
6.I'm still unclear on why Bruce doesn't press as much.
7.We need Crew's leadership on the court badly, Chism isn't capable of carrying us down low.

Agree 100% with 1-4. The only similarity I see between Prince and Asumnu is their leaping ability. Prince is much more smooth with the ball, and Asumnu was stronger. If Prince gets his head in the game, he has the athletic ability to have a nice line across the board every game.

6. I actually was starting to think the opposite. The press is completely ineffective right now, and the only reason I see to run it is to "tire out" the opponent. But even I think that argument is weak. They're giving up more easy baskets and getting very few TOs out of it right now.

7. Agree again - In fact, Chism is hurting us more than helping right now. He's providing very little inside presence and jacking up a lot of missed 3s - we have enough guys who can do that now. At least Duke and BWilliams stay down low and assert themselves when they're in the game.

FWIW, #1 North Carolina is not blowing out 4-7 Nicholls State at home right now. They were up 6 with a little over a min. to go in the half. they're up 11 at the half. Maybe they'll win by 50. Maybe it'll stay relatively close.

The #1 team in the country won in much the same fashion as we did last night. In fact, their margin was only 10.

Chism needs to stop thinking that he's a SG. I know Bruce wants him to feel confident stepping out and shooting from long range, but he just doesn't have it. Looking at his stats, it doesn't tell the whole story on what a bad outside shot he has.

I don't know about anyone else, but I really felt sorry for their big man last night. The whole arena laughed at him everytime he did something, it was kinda sad. Also, did anyone else notice how bad the National Anthem singer was?

He is 24% on the year shooting 3's. Sad thing is, our PG is 18%.

I'm right there with you on this one.

I wasn't there, so I'll take your word for it. I bet he's heard enough stupid, ignorant crap from people his whole life, and he seems to have a pretty thick skin. I was impressed by his demeanor and ability despite his jaw-dropping size.

I hope (and you can shed light on this) that the fans weren't laughing at him as much as just laughing at the fact that he's so much bigger than everyone else and made our guys look like little boys. Maybe it was like a natural wonder that you can't believe you're looking at, and you just have to laugh b/c it's so awkward.

If they were being malicious, all I can say is what goes around comes around.

The guy is going to atleast get a tryout somewhere in the pros... whether its overseas or here.

The pure size of him is enough for that much... not to mention the guy dominated us defensively for a 4-5 minute stretch probably getting 4 blocks in that amount of time and had 12 rebounds in the game. If he can improve his conditioning and play more minutes then he'd be getting serious looks imo.

Speaking of Sean Sutton he's pretty much in a tight situation right now at OSU. I don't see them improving anytime soon.
