Vols at the Combine and their draft grades

Dang Malone and North really hurt themself by the desire to get money faster. Thing is they don't realize that if they waited a year, the money would have probably doubled

I think both North and Malone should have stayed.

With that being said, a bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush.

Just think Malone barely had a few breakout games this year, so I don't expect him to dominate the combine, but I wish all our Vols the best of luck.

He's going to be drafted. And probably a lot higher than any of the projections have him going right now after he runs a 4.35 at the combine.

Dude, they are expecting John Ross to run that kind of time, no way he runs close to that. Also JRM is closer to undrafted than the 4th round.

Gotta take off those orange colored glasses at some point.

DB-around 15-20
AK- Late 1st early 2nd
Sutton-3rd
Dobbs- 5 to 6

That will be about it I think.

Malone is going to have a very similar time to Ross.

Don't think that's a fair comparison: Malone vs North

Maybe he saw who was going to be throwing to him next season and thought it could further hurt his stock.

Lol. Dobbs didn't suck but he didn't exactly raise Malone's stock a whole lot. Can't imagine the next guy is going to be a worse passer. Hope not at least.

Petermans 40 time is faster than Dobbs.
Dobbs: 4.95
Peterman: 4.8

Facts Matter

Wow, if that's true I'll be shocked. Dobbs looks like he should run a 4.6 or so. Peterman maybe about right. Interested to see their times at combine now!

The NFL wants to see if a quarterback can throw the very long deep out if they have enough arm strength if they don't have it they won't play

You're kidding?

From an experience stand point. We've only seen Dormady mop up duty with big leads. Lol, we all know Dobbs wasn't known for that arm accuracy, but he did have confidence. SEC and D1 football is a lot faster than New Jersey prep school football

Brook's mock draft has Barnett going 8th to Carolina. It was on the ticker of the NFL Network. DB was the only Vol listed 1st Rd. I made the mistake on a commercial to channel surf, now I'm watching Paw Patrol.

Go Vols!

Ha ha. I've had to watch Paw Patrol. I feel for u, man.

Dobbs seems to be a long stride runner, with deceptively fast top-end speed, but not necessarily quick out of the gate. Upon second glance, it appears his 4.95 was out of high school. He may be a 4.7 or 4.8 guy now. Dobbs certainly moves well when he hits stride. Faster than he is quick.

Peterman is not slow as suggested. Moves very well, sets feet, very accurate, quick release, big hands, makes all the throws... 5.85 combine rating is impressive.

I'd have to see him run the 40 to believe Dobbs ran that slow.

Agree. No way Dobbs runs that slow unless something is bothering him on his body. The guy totally outran the entire UF secondary two years ago for a TD. I'd say he will run ~4.6 at the combine as long as he's healthy that is.

ran a 4.9 in high school 40 years ago and I was a lineman who was not in good shape at all. Troubling stat there. Not sure what it means.

I have always heard that for every ten years ago a 40 time was run, you are supposed to add one tenth to get the actual time that was run. So that makes that about a 5.3.....sounds reasonable. :)

Bump.

Didn't think there was any way Dobbs was slower than peterman. Wonder who gets drafted higher?!

The most important grade (Where they are drafted)...Here's my projections

Barnett - Middle of 1st
Kamara - Early Second
Sutton - Late Second
Reeves-Maybin - 4th Round
Dobbs - 6th Round
Malone - 7th Round

I thought vereen had a chance to be a late pick. Better than Maybin imo, because he's bigger and less of an injury risk. I would never draft anyone whose been hurt for as long as JRM has been. That shoulder is shot and it's hard to comeback from a shoulder injury.

We wl have better passing numbers this year. JG/QD are both better passers than Dobb's was when he was each of their ages
