Vols and Vandy To Decide Who's Last in The East?

Tennessee will finish no worse than 4th in the division. For UK or Vandy to have any chance to finish higher, they would have to each win at least 3-4 games in conference, and that just doesn't happen that often.

Personally, I think SC ends 3rd, tied with UGA, but with the tie breaker.

If Tennessee wins four games next year, Derek Dooley ought to be SEC Coach of the Year. That’s how depleted that roster is. It also explains why Lane Kiffin wasted no time whatsoever in getting the hell out of Dodge. If Kiffin had the talent to win in 2010, he would have been foolish to leave Tennessee for a Southern Cal program that is going to feel the weight of an NCAA hammer. He didn’t have the talent and he bolted. Derek Dooley was maybe the eighth choice for the job but he might be the best choice because (a) he’s very young; (b) doesn’t have a lot of talent to work with; and (c) will be forgiven for turning in a losing season in 2010. How bad is it up there in Dollywood USA? Juco transfer Matt Simms is going to be the quarterback and he doesn’t have a very strong arm nor does he have much in the way of wide receivers. The offensive line returns only one starter and may include two true freshmen when the season begins. The defense lost the entire secondary including Eric Berry, the best safety in the nation, and both tackles, including Dan Williams, who, like Berry, was a first round draft pick. The only surefire win on the schedule is Division I-AA Tennessee Martin in the season opener. After that it’s seven straight weeks against teams that went to a bowl last year. It’s going to be a long, long, long season up in Dollywood.

Tim Casey from Gatorcountry. Before you guys go on and on about it being from a Florida homer, let me say that this is the prevailing sentiment around the SEC imo. No one expects us to do anything and I think they are in for a rude awakening.

I would call the author uninformed but that would be too generous. Love seeing articles whose whole purpose is to make fun of UT posted as evidence we will suck.

We won't finish behind Vandy or Kentucky.

no, we won't. i agree that it will be a rough year, but i seriously doubt it's going to be so terrible that it comes down to a battle for 5th place with vandy in november. article seems to be pretty misinformed.

I say this is good. Last year, teams circled the UT game so they could embarrass Kiffin for what he is. This year, we will definitely be the underdog and, with a little luck, we will win a game or two we are not supposted to win. IMO, good things can happen to a team with nothing to lose.

I don't know why everyone gives Rex such a hard time, I like to know what other teams and their fans are saying about us. More often than not, it is very amusing (like this article.)

If I am a UGA fan, I am concerned that I won't have anyone left to start at QB before the season starts. They seem to be dropping like flies.

I don't know what is up with all these Arky bandwagon jumpers. Don't get me wrong, they will not be an easy out. They will probably win 7-8 games. They just remind me of the Tim Couch-Kentucky teams. Basketball on grass. They still can't stop anyone. You have to play D to win the SEC. Tennessee will not finish last, no way. Vandy will be terrible.
