Vols #6 Ranked Class 2016

We're #6 on Rivals in terms of average ranking. 9 4* and 7 3* = 3.55. This is where we want to be ranked, now that Butch used the last 2 classes to field a whole 85-man roster.

I'm kind of surprised how many people are freaking out about it. If he continued to sign 30+ kids ever year that would mean we have a real attrition problem

Agree which is probably why Rivals ranks classes based on the top 20 rated.......not every team needs the same number of recruits.

As long as we fill needs and add depth and hit a home run next year this class is just fine. Look at 2013:
Dobbs
JRM
Sutton
J Smith
Asterisk North

Then you have Vereen, Foreman, Weisman, and Kendrick at tier two.
That's it and we will be East favorites next year. Hang on to JG, CFA, Alexis, Kongbo, R Johnson, Osbourne at all cost. Add to the rest with Warrior and a couple surprises and it's a really good class considering the last two and next years potential.

He may need a few Vitamin B shots to get through the year but needs to do whatever it takes.

Good thread, OP. Just a suggestion to VN, take a nap until signing day. If you are in East TN, enjoy the beautiful 70's temps this weekend. Plan your Christmas with family and friends along with where you will watch the bowl game.

Butch has proven repeatedly he owns the recruiting trail and has solid evals. He's building the roster he needs to run his system at its optimum level. Those guys may be different than Bama and the rest. It's OK. Life is good as a Vol fan.

Thot I saw where C-G and Guar both got bumped to 5 stars?
Guess not.
Are we in on any 5s that we have a good shot at?

I just don't see it with the current class, other than maybe George and Henderson. Not slamming our recruits, just saying we are finally in a position where we don't have to rely on guys not yet on campus to start next year.

Top 20 players counted or whatever. If their is a best way to look at recruiting rankings accurately, I would use these criteria instead of the "rankings". Not necessarily in this order.

#1 What is the " average rating" of the class, including all players?

#2 Did we land the right QB?

#3 Were positions of need addressed in the expected upcoming turnover, including players fitting the systems?

We are starting to see some previous commits looking elsewhere. The ugly side of recruiting. My opinion is Jones has some pretty good players ready to sign up. I look for the class to continually improve into NSD. Probably will still sign close to 23-25 kids.

It doesn't surprise me. Some freak out over any hint of negative news.
