Im not sure UT is in 3rd alone this year must less 2nd both years.
Meaningless cherry picked stat meant to make them look better than they are. Hey if you are that desperate to find positive talking points then use this stat:
Tennessee is undefeated in games in which it scored more points than its opponent.
Means just as much.
15-4 would be the 2nd best in the SEC the last 19 games, which is a large sample size, and besides the Alabama slaughtering the other 3 losses were by a combined 15 points which includes a 5 point loss at Alabama, a loss in OT at A&M and a disappointing 3 point loss at South Carolina. What do all of those have in common? Close losses on the road that we easily could've. Who else in the SEC would stack up against us in that timeframe besides Alabama? Answer: nobody.
The east is trash. The best team on our side that we beat just got hammered by Arkansas and is more than likely gonna be hammered again this week by LSU. Neither of which can even win their division. LSU would win the east by 2 games.
Edit (just looked at the standings).
Arky is 5th in the west. They beat the current 1st place team in the east.
A&M 4th in the west beat the current 2nd place team in the east.
Your points are kinda mute. We throttled Florida for 38 unanswered points and quite honestly could've hung 50 on them had our receivers caught the ball in the first half. And Georgia beat Auburn who throttled Arkansas for what was probably the dominate win in college football this year. That's the SEC for you. Anybody can beat anybody and losses happen unless you're Alabama of course. For us to have the 2nd best record in the best conference in America over the last 19 games is something to be proud of after the last decade of a dumpster fire. We are getting back to where we should be and if people are too proud or stubborn to realize it then they can go kick rocks.
Not really my points prove the east is way behind the west. UT is better than it was no doubt. Not hard to do after following Dooley. And when you compare it to the east its evident. If you want to leave the argument there you have a point. If you want to include the entire conference you dont have one. The west's 4 and 5 could win the east. That doesnt work the other way.
The any given Saturday doesn't apply to a season. Check the east's records against the west over the last 2 years and get back with me if you still believe that.
Bama holds no relevance to who is second or whether or not UT would beat them for the west if they were in that division. That has nothing to do with the discussion. The West 4 and 5 would not win the East. Arkansas has 4 SEC losses already and A&M will be joining them by seasons end. And of course the 4th best East team(currently us btw) couldn't win the West. If you haven't realized Alabama runs that division and the conference year in and year out so realistically nobody has a chance of winning that division. It's a race for 2nd place every year. Given all the things we've been through this year, our record at seasons end will have us 2nd or 3rd in the West which equates to us being the 2nd or 3rd best team in the conference which is why this thread was started. We will be the 2nd best team in the SEC over a 20 game period when Alabama is the class of college football so I guess my point is if we didn't have to deal with Alabama every single year and they weren't a part of the SEC we would have a chance of winning the conference every year and that's something not everyone can say.

Of course Arky nor A&M would win the east with their current/projected records. But you are also making the false assumption that both teams are 3 or 4 loss teams with an east schedule. That really falls apart when both beat the top 2 teams in the east head to head.
A 5-3 UT or UF team does not mean they would have the same record with a west schedule. Who you play and beat matters in regards to the conference pecking order.
agreed. it's not really debatable presently how much better the West is vs. the East.
it's not even close right now.
