Vols #25 in the AP

These folks didn't watch the (6) Tennessee vs Memphis State game in '96... 🤢

The failure to understand that that game is what makes football special. If a team commits to playing their game and making a few plays they can win. When the other team comes in over confident and thinks they’ll cruise they lose. It’s football and it great.

If we win the East we embrace it...brag about it...strut about it...and it will annoy the heck out of the other SEC schools and Big 10 schools who will claim there's an asterisk...but just to irritate them we'll go on and on like it's the greatest season ever. No apologies. If we lose...we claim Covid and there should be an asterisk.

Six game winning streak against these teams:

South Carolina
UAB
Kentucky
Missouri
Vanderbilt
Indiana

I would not be bragging about beating a bunch of bad to mediocre football teams.

I have not seen anyone in this thread "bragging." I have seen one or two mention progress. Again, as I alluded to in my post, we have some impressive potential returning this season. Offensive line, senior depth in the defensive line, DB's, etc.

While you are correct, I completely understand the skepticism. I’ve heard a different flavor of the same hype for years. I’m a believer when the wins start piling up.

We lost several games last year against opponents with subpar talent. The finish down the stretch last year was impressive but we needed a few breaks to go our way to even pull those off. We were lucky to pull out the win in Lexington and Jacksonville. We did not finish last year in dominant fashion.

we’ve got the talent on the field to win a lot of games, but history indicates that talent alone was not the sole issue on the Hill. I hope you’re right but the doubts are warranted.

Being ranked 25 with a few conferences not included is a slap in the face. This is nothing to be proud of.

Providing a fact is bragging?

And shame on the Vols for beating everyone on their schedule since the latter part of October. Also, not part of the six game streak was a win over Miss State and a very competitive loss to Bama where we actually outplayed Bama plus refs for a large stretch of the game.

Many of us Vol fans recognize the improvement the Vols made in ‘19. And I believe I saw a program turn the corner regardless of how the schedule lined up.

Agree with those pumping the brakes. Playing Bama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, and Texas A&M in this weird season has going to be rough sledding. If we come out of this with 7 wins, I will be impressed. Go Vols...VFL!

You just outed yourself as either obtuse or a troll.

It's not really worth my (or anyone else's) time to engage with you if either of those are true. However, surely you can agree that beating those 6 teams in succession is much better than losing to any of those 6 teams. Which is exactly what had occurred the previous 2.5 years. You take SEC wins anytime you can get them. Road SEC wins? Glorious. Which is exactly what we did to Kentucky and Mizzou.

Georgia would have loved a win against South Carolina last year. Let alone by 20 points in a beatdown.
UAB finished 9-3. Whole lot of teams would have loved that W.
Guess who would have loved to beat Kentucky last year? Louisville and Virginia Tech.
West Virginia, Ole Miss, and Arkansas would have loved a W against Mizzou.
Rutgers, Maryland, Nebraska, Northwestern, and Purdue would have loved to get a win vs. Indiana.

That's a lot of Power 5 teams that struggled to beat just one of the teams we beat - let alone going undefeated against all of them. Troll on.
