OMG we passed Vandy. The beast has been slain. Finally we can get recruits

Oh my, oh my can it really be? You mean we actually passed the Commode Doors in recruiting? Oh Where, Oh Where can the Negavols be when you really expect to hear the negative spin put on something to make this appear as a clear sign or our teams pending demise?

22 Tennessee Volunteers Commits: 13 ESPNU 150 Commits: 2 Top Prospect: WR Drae Bowles Five-star commits: 0 Four-star: 5 Three-star: 5 Others: 3

I'm thinking cracking the top 15 is a real possibility. I even wondered if squeaking into the top 10 on NSD could become a reality. Probably not now that we've missed on DJ who most likely was our only 5 star possibility. Stars and rankings aside, I think CDD is putting together another solid class.

"...a quote from Coach Saban that he expected the most competition from a Dooley led Tennessee in just a couple years." VolsDoc81TX

The above quote posted in another vn thread exemplifies what I think of CDD and how I see things going for UT under his leadership. The biggest fear the rest of the SEC has is UT with our feet back under us marching our way back up to the top of the SEC East. (That last comment is totally UT homeristic, but I don't care since I am a VFL!!)

Does ESPN rank JuCos? If not, we have no shot at top 10 and may not even be top 15. If so, we could be sitting pretty if we land Patterson and Autry.

Don't know how espn ranks jucos. I forgot that some of the services don't count the jucos just like any other recruit. I think cracking the top 15 is possible. It's going to take getting some of these bigger name guys like Diamond, Croom, O'Brien, Pipkins, and others. I'm not really concerned with how many stars and what ranking we end up with. I trust CDD and staff to put together a class that will fill needs and make UT better.

Didn't see it posted anywhere, but the Vols cracked the top 25 on ESPN.com's ranking system.

Here's the link. College Football Class Rankings 2012 - ESPN

Basically, suck it Vandy. I know that making fun of Vandy football is kind of like calling double-dribbling on a kid with a disability, but I really am tired of hearing about their "surge" in recruiting. Would a real football program consider this a coup in recruiting? I doubt it. I would definitely send my kid to Vandy on an academic scholarship, but let's keep it real. Vandy is not Stanford; not this year anyway. Vandy has a way to go. I hope TN gets Jelks. I like to see local guys getting some love. I understand, however, that a coach's million dollar contract is connected to winning, so I will pull for whoever the Vols sign.
Dooley seems to have a plan of developing character guys. As a UT grad, I applaud it. I think the Vols can win consistently without taking the rediculous risks, that have been taken in the past. I hope the new "25" rule hurts those teams that over-sign. I want to see college kids on the field. I want to see the guys that I have class with, out there representing my state and university.

It doesn't take a lot of competence to graduate from H.S., especially if you are a star athelete. I am a life long Vol fan, but I expect our players to be at a semi-collegiate level academicaly. I like how Spurrier defended the practice of oversigning. He tried to say that it helps kids that might not ordinarilly make it into college have a second chance. Well, if you are a Tennessean, it is not easy to make it into UT. Atheletes already have a built in advantage. Just don't be stupid. If you can read on a 10th grade level, you can get in as a college football player.
A great percentage of these guys don't make the NFL, so that degree is all they may have. A degree by itself does not guarantee a job anymore. However, a degree, accompanied by the fact that you played f ball at Ut CAN give you the inroads to a decent paying job.
Just voicing my approval of the caliber of player Dooley is recruiting. Make us proud.

They don't rate them but they do consider them in their team rankings...last year they cited Moore, Couch and Lanier as part of the reason for our ranking
