Didn't see it posted anywhere, but the Vols cracked the top 25 on ESPN.com's ranking system.

College Football Class Rankings 2012 - ESPN
Basically, suck it Vandy. I know that making fun of Vandy football is kind of like calling double-dribbling on a kid with a disability, but I really am tired of hearing about their "surge" in recruiting. Would a real football program consider this a coup in recruiting? I doubt it. I would definitely send my kid to Vandy on an academic scholarship, but let's keep it real. Vandy is not Stanford; not this year anyway. Vandy has a way to go. I hope TN gets Jelks. I like to see local guys getting some love. I understand, however, that a coach's million dollar contract is connected to winning, so I will pull for whoever the Vols sign.
Dooley seems to have a plan of developing character guys. As a UT grad, I applaud it. I think the Vols can win consistently without taking the rediculous risks, that have been taken in the past. I hope the new "25" rule hurts those teams that over-sign. I want to see college kids on the field. I want to see the guys that I have class with, out there representing my state and university.
It doesn't take a lot of competence to graduate from H.S., especially if you are a star athelete. I am a life long Vol fan, but I expect our players to be at a semi-collegiate level academicaly. I like how Spurrier defended the practice of oversigning. He tried to say that it helps kids that might not ordinarilly make it into college have a second chance. Well, if you are a Tennessean, it is not easy to make it into UT. Atheletes already have a built in advantage. Just don't be stupid. If you can read on a 10th grade level, you can get in as a college football player.
A great percentage of these guys don't make the NFL, so that degree is all they may have. A degree by itself does not guarantee a job anymore. However, a degree, accompanied by the fact that you played f ball at Ut CAN give you the inroads to a decent paying job.
Just voicing my approval of the caliber of player Dooley is recruiting. Make us proud.
