Rivals.com College Football - Rivals.com 2007 Preseason Top 25

The Vols made a nice turnaround from a shocking 5-6 season in 2005 to win nine games. However, a disappointing loss to Penn State in the Outback Bowl left room for some grousing from the Orange faithful. With rival Florida winning the national title, don't expect the grousing to die down. Still, UT coach Phillip Fulmer appears to have things headed back in the right direction. Quarterback Erik Ainge was a revelation in 2006 despite mediocre offensive line play. Expect that to change and Ainge to remain solid, though the receiving corps will experience heavy losses. John Chavis' defense also wasn't up to its usual self (50th nationally in total defense), but it did have some major injury problems. The defense returns six starters and should bounce back toward the top 20.

Pre-pre season. I don't trust them. I like to go to off Bourbon street fortune tellers.

17...that's sort of an iffy place to start just to even have a chance at a national title nowdays.

pre season polls dont really mean anything.. it would be nice to see the vols in the top 25 again. with ainge being a senior I sincerely hope they can do better than 17th though.

Leave Gainesville undefeated and we will be in the mix. That is one of the "advantages" of playing that game in September.

Still starting at 17 means that winning in FL might not be enough. Call Auburn if you want more info.

There's potentially 16 teams that can finish ahead of us if they go unbeaten or only have 1 loss. Even going unbeaten starting at 17 might not be enough. Then again, odds of us being undefeated are quite slim.

pre season poll = match on a fire, it just doesn't matter, especially, ESPECIALLY pre spring.

Tebow's passing does not scare me. He did not throw one good looking pass all season. Even the TD throw in the NC was akward not very impressive. He might turn out to be a great QB but I do not think he is going to be a great all-around QB next season. Next season he will be a running threat that does not make good reads or good throws.

He threw some nice passes. In the game where he threw the jump pass, he had a nice pass for a TD.
