We're now the #10 team in the Sagarin ratings. The Outback Bowl domination certainly helped us, but we also likely got a bit of a boost from many of our opponents having strong bowl performances.

Interesting to note that Arkansas managed to move all the way up to #15, as well. Florida, however, fell to #28 after a weak series of performances.

Here is the Top 15.

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Ohio State
4. Oklahoma
5. Stanford
6. Ole Miss
7. TCU
8. Baylor
9. Michigan
10. Tennessee
11. Florida State
12. Notre Dame
13. LSU
14. USC
15. Arkansas

NICE,it's awesome to see Tennessee that high in the ratings! It's stupid that Houston isn't ranked in those ratings and i can't figure why they aren't.

Oklahoma is not the 4th best team in the country. Michigan State is still a top 15 team. Vols are better than half the teams ranked ahead of them in this poll at this point in the year.

I don't think ANY team would want to play Tennessee right now. Similar to the 1985 squad. I think the 1985 squad was either the best team in the country by the end of the year or right there with the very best.....

Can anyone give the basic principle behind the Sagarin ratings and, thus, why this would be the resulting top 15?

What caught my eye is Tennessee is third in the SEC behind bama and ole miss. That is how I feel, too, but I don't give myself credit for being objective. It is great to see that an objective rating system recognizes the Vols. IHd the playoff committe published a final poll, I would have been curious to see the Vols landed. Personally, I don't put much faith in the other rankings.

I was saying yesterday that if the rankings truly relected who were the best 25 teams in the country we'd finish the season around #10-12.
