Says deal is not done, but "very close"

Ironing out details (Urban wants him there for conf title game, etc)

Full in revolt by Clay Travis

Rucker describes as "tone deaf" hire

Sad times indeed

Then Currie should be fired for bringing in a piece of **** person like Schiano. I expect a full scale Mutiny if this happens. Fans need to start voting with their $$$. It's the only thing these people care about.

I feel bad for the players, because they will be playing front of no one come 2018. I will not be a fan of our team or program if he is hired until the day he resigns or is fired. Sorry again for the players, but I will be hoping for complete failure if he is hired and will be cheering against the Vols.

I just don't think his resume is good enough. Winning 8 games a year in the final years of the Big East is like winning 8 games a year in the American Conference.

A mediocre to below college coach, failed NFL coach, known bully and controversies surrounding his anger issues and dirty style along with player abuse. Oh, and he also looked the other way when Sandusky was raping people. If he is the hire I'll be logging out of here until he and the entire administration is fired. Good luck to everyone over the next 3-5 years.

Why even fire Butch.......if you have no plan, and no good prospects?

I know Butch needed firing, but dang, why not have something in place before..................most didn't want Norvell, and others like that.......but heck Tennessee fans would take Norvell and eventually accept it at some point before taking Greg the Douche.

How in the world is Greg Shiano the ONE guy that Currie would think is good to go to from the controversial, cancer that was Butch Jones? Is there ANYONE that would be a worse choice?

If this is true, thank god I live in Dallas, TX. I hope you guys burn stuff in the streets. To let a guy coach our university that knew about boys getting raped is beyond sickening. I will not support this and it makes me sick to say that. If they trot him out I will be removing all the Tennessee gear from my jeep and not spending hard earned cash to support this. Btw, there will be 4 really good seats coming open on the 35 yard line, press box side.

I’m done. I’m 51....tired of ‘waiting 4 more years ‘. This is the single worse hire possible.
A few good yrs at a mid-major (with a .500 record), flamed in the NFL, no ties to the South, SEC, the program, marginal D at OSU. This is truly a disaster. Just scraped the orange ‘T’ of my trucks back window. Maybe I will become an Arkansas fan.... their list of potential coaches is inspiring compared to this. In 5 yrs both Currie and Schitiano will be fired, UT will be further in debt, and I will be 56. Tied of the Groundhog Day scenario. If this was the end result of this coaching search, would have preferred to keep bUTch.....at least he was a good recruiter. I think in 5 yrs, we will be reminiscing of the ‘good ole days of bUTch’.
Peace out!
