I'm pirating a little Pink Floyd for my own devices this morning.
It's time the Tennessee Volunteers not turn away when all they need to do is finish the big game. Since the season in hell, some would argue even before that, the big game has too often been just a smidge too big. The effort was there, the team would be in position to take it in the fourth. Then... eh... not so much. Disappointed players, coaches and fans are left to say things like, 'just a play or two here and there'.
Shake it off for cripes sake! Now, right now, with a senior quarterback, veteran running backs, a strong offensive line, and a solid(not great) defense, is the time to blow the fog blinding us from success away once and for all. Leave 2005 in a heap by the side of the road and say yes to winning when it counts.
This football game, this year, I find is no longer about division titles for me. It is about saying the big game is not a hurdle to be leaped, but a door to be busted down.
Please... play hard, be there at the end, and finish.
Is it only a dream that there'll be,
no more turning away.
VolNotes will be short today. Never much on Fridays...

"They read all the different things and heard all the things that were being said," Taylor said. "Everybody was asking about the freshmen and talking about everyone but them. Everybody has pride, and if they don't have pride, they shouldn't be playing for us anyway. I think it was more of a pride thing."
UT's receivers have answered most of their critics' questions through two games, but their biggest test will take place Saturday at the Swamp...
A lot of the credit goes to offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe, who has not only taken quarterback Erik Ainge to another level, but also is putting the once unproven receivers in positions to succeed.
"Coach Cut has really emphasized consistency and discipline," said Rogers, a former David Lipscomb standout. "We're where we need to be when we need to be there. We're going to make plays."
Don't expect UT's receivers to perform celebrations, chest-thumping, or little dances that have become so popular. Whether it's a third-and-3 conversion or a touchdown catch, Taylor, Rogers and Briscoe are apt to hand the ball to the nearest official and hustle to the bench to talk with Ainge about the next series.
"When a guy makes a big catch and he makes everyone know that he just made a big catch, he kind of has that swagger about him," Ainge said. "These guys are just going out there and getting the job done. If you know them, that's how they are in life."
"It's a process," Taylor said. "Like I told them, even a broke clock can be right twice a day. I don't want that to be the case. I want them to be consistent."

Daniel Lincoln and Vladimir Richard loved Danny Wuerffel.
They cheered for Fred Taylor, Emmitt Smith, Jevon Kearse, Kevin Carter and Jabar Gaffney.
And, man, oh man, did they love them some Steve Spurrier.
Lincoln and Richard wanted to be Florida Gators.
For different reasons, they are Tennessee Volunteers.
Go Vols!!!
