All we have on the team right now is young talent, and everyone knows this. So given two years and needed experience will they not be good enough then to win?

If you do not believe Bray, JJ, Schofield, Stone, Miller, Smith, Myles, Janzen, Rogers, Milton, Hunter, and everyone else will be any good... well, then we are going to have bigger problems than any coach could handle.

Dooley saved this last recruiting class in 2 weeks, and with the coming year you will see him pull in big talent for TN, and have a top 10 recruiting class. This guy wants to win, and he will... at Tennessee.

So my questions for VN are..

How is it easier to say that UT could never win a national championship again than saying they can?

How is it that people literally believe that Alabama and Florida are just simply, unbeatable?

and how can you be a Vol if you do not have faith that given all of our players live up to there potential that we will not have a chance to be a SEC Championship and NC contender in the 2012-2013?

I joined this forum because I wanted to keep up with the team I have loved and have been watching on the field ever since I was a little kid, but all I have gotten from this forum is discouragement. People need to start looking up.. Not everything is always a downward spiral.

You are so right. Seems like if they got anything to say it is not good. I don't get it. If you are a true Vols fan support them no matter what. I know there has been 3 coaches in three years. Just go out and support them. You never know. The Lady Vols wasn't suppose to be where they are now but they are. You never know. Go Vols

My feelings are the same as yours. I wake up every morning with orange colored glasses (born loving the BIG ORANGE). I follow the VOLNATION everyday and try to keep my feet on the ground. Sure things are not ever perfect in good times or bad and some people see it necessary to look for something NEGATIVE in EVERYTHING.

I used to get SO MAD at those people (fellow VOL FANS) during the 1998 season who could NOT enjoy winning it all. We were lucky against Arkansas, FSU had 2nd string QB, lucky Kansas St and UCLA losing. Its like maybe so, but we won it ALL and that is something to be PROUD of and let's celebrate. But they seem like they have to be the "DEBBIE DOWNER" from SNL and try to tarnish it for the rest of us.

As for this season I am trying to be realistic and cautious, but I will still hope for the best. But I will say I will be at every home game just like last season, and hopefully an away game or two. So I will not be one of those people who won't put their money or fandom where their mouth is.

i eat, breathe and sleep orange and i never been to a game, or the great state of tennessee. i wear something orange everyday.. no matter what, after a win or a loss, and yeah i get discouraged at times after a game or missing out on a big recruit or after a coaching change... no matter what the sport, womens or mens! but i do get sick of coming on here and reading all the negatives about tennessee athletics. maybe these people dont appreciate it cause they are down there going to the games and seeing all this stuff in person, but im not down there so. i will proudly wear my orange colored glasses and drink the kool-aid, no matter what happens. i will support the teams, players coaches.untill i feel they need to go(fulmer). i will wear my orange proudly everyday till i die. And there is my rah rah rant for the day!!!!! true fans need to stop being so negative and put the orange glasses back on and sip some more orange kool-aid, it's worked for me!

1st point: Logic...

Only one team wins it in any given year. This means that 119 teams didn't. Odds are...you're not winning it. That doesn't mean that we won't, but CFB is a sport where if you one every 10 years, you're considered to be an elite program and the cream of the crop.

2nd point: If you're going to assume that all of our players live up to their potential, then you must do the same for every program. Look back at recruiting. If this is the case, we are FAR behind UF, Bama, LSU and even Auburn and UGA to an extent. We are in the toughest conference in America and probably the thoughest single division. Its gonna be a long time before it bodes well for us.

BUT...thats why they play the game!

I'm not a negavol...I just see things for what they are. You can find me at the General's home sweet home for every home game, though...and I'll give my all for Tennessee. Rosters may change and coaches may come and go...but some things will simply never change.

Are you serious, man? We've got to work on this. If you ever make it in, you've got a couch to crash on, bro! Seriously...you need to pull on into Knoxville this year.

I disagree that all of our good talent is young. We have some solid juniors and seniors who will make huge contributions for this year's team.

They haven't even played a down. You're saying they're a NC group, when the only ones who made a solid impression are Bray and James. Listen, I can understand hoping that they can win Natl championships, but expecting a no.9 class to do so on the basis of their potential is logically ridiculous.

this site use to be awsome and i couldint stand not checking it like evry 5 hours. i would litterally wake up in the middle of the night and come check to see if any info broke. but when the kiffin thing happend it was like this site had its heart broken and dooley just isint the type of coach that could come in here and be more exciting that what kiffin was giving us. i dont think any coach could. we went from having a young exciting coach with the best recruiters and football coaches in the country to having the situation we are in now.... iall that needs to happen is get the season started...we just need to get this offseason OUT of our minds...

Regarding the OP, the negavols generally stand out more, especially with the lack of things going on football-wise. It's just going to take some time to see things play out. As for me, a couple of points:
1. When USC goes on probation, we're gonna be a little more relieved Dooley's here instead of Kiffy.
2. How many commitments did we have last year (and most years) at this time?
3. With Tennessee's talent base, can we ever really expect to have the early commitments that Texas, LSU, Florida, Alabama, and Georgia do?

Just sayin...

1. Since the talent-rich banner football programs (Florida, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Miami, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State & USC) landed quality coaches or recruiters, no other program has even appeared in the national title game since 2002. That's 0-for-16. The most talent-rich of the bunch (Florida, Texas, USC & OSU) have appeared in more than half of the national title spots. Expecting UT to break that when we face the toughest schedule of any of those outside competitors is unrealistic.

2. Not "unbeatable" just not likely to be beaten three times in a season (Bama likely twice in an SEC title game, or an LSU team comparable to Bama if they are in the SEC title game), as necessary to be SEC title-holders. They have an extraordinary built-in advantage in local recruiting talent and our coaches may, if we are fortunate, equal, but are unlikely to ever exceed, their coaching acumen. This means we should lose 90% of the time to them, not beat them three times in a single season, as likely necessary to win an SEC title.

3. I believe our players can more than live up to their potential, but I have to also believe the more talented depth charts at Florida and Alabama, or minimally comparable coaching staffs at those programs, will suddenly falter and fail terribly to believe we can overcome the very real talent deficit between us.

4. I don't see being a "true Tennessee fan" as celebrating unrealistic expectations that put a damper on good seasons merely because SEC titles aren't in the hardware and encourage a coaching merry-go-round from excessive expectations.

:good!:It would be nice if everybody would look on the bright side of things. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if we could just hold the negative stuff for when bad things actually happen. We may all be suprised by what happens this year. I know I am pumped, and I am goin to stay that way.

It is amazing that the same people still do not get it..

The point is.. THEY COULD! That is all. I just think it is ignorant to say that they couldn't win at all. You have no idea, and my entire point is for you to simply say... yeah, well they could. That's it.. I would just like to see a little more optimism from you guys.

You think I am sitting here saying, "Yeah, well I know for a fact that TN will win the NC in 2012 or 2013!" When in reality I am just trying to show you that you are just as outlandish as the comment above.

Btw, Tn could win the NC in 2012 or 2013.. period.

Logically, I am just saying that they could as I have pointed out to volwarrior.

Basically my entire post was based off of his negativity toward the program, and the ultimate assumption that no team will ever beat Alabama, Florida, or USC ever again.

I am still confused with he hasn't moved on to tidewarrior, gaytorwarrior, or trojanwarrior yet.. blows my mind.
