The Top 10 Classes:
1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame
5. LSU
6. Michigan
7. Texas A&M
8. UCLA
9. Georgia
10. USC
Notice the thing in common with all those schools?
The ones with coaches that have been there for years win perennially.
But the schools with new coaches of 2 years or less (A&M, UCLA, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida) have had coaches come in that AUTOMATICALLY made an impact at their schools. A&M produced a Heisman and beat Alabama in Sumlin's first year, UCLA won the South in the PAC-12, and went 9-5 in Mora's first year. Ohio State of course goes undefeated in Meyer's first year. Michigan went 11-2 in Hoke's first year. Florida went 11-2 this year in Muschamp's 2nd year.
Dooley just said "You think you have a good class, and then you look up and you see that everyone else has a greater class than you." That was true. Dooley couldn't recruit on his reputation, and Butch can't recruit on his yet. But the coaches at these schools that I've mentioned are coaches that actually can coach with the talent they get, and then when talented players see that they can win there, they will then come to their school.
What I'm saying, is two things:
1) No wonder Dooley couldn't recruit as well as the big boys, because he never won like the big boys. If you can't coach, and you can't win the big games, you won't recruit.
2) Butch HAS to pull a winning season this year. The 2014 class is the most important one. If Butch cannot show people that he is a MUCH better coach than Dooley, then he won't be able to recruit like he needs to. But if Butch wins a game against Florida, or Oregon, or South Carolina, or Georgia or Alabama, then recruiting will take off like crazy.
Looking forward to a good signing day, and a great season!!!
