For Dooley didn't recruit our pathetic line. I'm for Simms as well. I think all problems go back to the offensive line, and a certain former lineman. One, Philip Fulmer

51, For. Give them time to recruit their type of player; both character and talent wise. These young men are playing hard, I know we want more but if we stand behind them and encourage them they will develop.

Age- 23

Against- I felt as though he was a "quick hire" and somewhat of a band-aid for us. He and this situation reminds me a lot of Bama's Shula era. I hate Kiffin but the way Kiffin's team came out and played with the "win or die" persona made him and his team easy to like. On the other hand Dooley's team seems to have a "please God don't let me screw up" persona and I hate it! Kiffin's team wasn't that much more talented and it's not as if Dooley inherited Vandy. There is no reason why we should be content with the mediocrity that I believe will come with Derek Dooley.......I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it....

For, Dooley will win over alot of momma's on the trail and he's got good guys around him just gotta give the young guys some time to develope

For - I was ready for anyone but Fulmer. One more camera shot of hand clapping after a turnover and I would have lost it.
There are occasional glimpses of future successes. I am excited about the direction we are headed.

4 years one post..

43 - For, basically the same reasons you outlined. I'm all about us winning, I don't care who the coach or AD is. Although, I certainly like Dooley as a person much more than Kiffin.

Please post your age in this thread. I am interested in seeing how the age of a poster relates to the type of outlook they have on the program.

Also, post either " For" or "against" the current coaching staff. Please explain why for either answer. I will begin

37 years old

For- I am for the staff for the main reason is they are all we have at this point. If they succeed, then UT Football succeeds and thats the ultimate goal. I believe we should be reasonable and give the man a chance to do his best and be behind him. If he doesnt show improvement in the next 3 years, then we should look at our options then. We cannot continue to shift gears and replace coaching staffs every other year. The problems will only get worse if we jump the gun and be impatient. This whole process was years in the making and it will take years for us to get out of this mess. It will not happen overnight. If and when things do not improve, I will call for Dooleys head, just as I did for Fulmers. Go Vols!!

For It's not like another coaching hire would help our situation any. 3 coaches in 3 years is a hell of a lot better than 4 in 4 years

FOR
Dooley and company should be given until 2012 to prove their merit,if drastic improvement is not shown, then he should be fired. This is Tennessee,we are a top five program historically and should expect to maintain top five program status. Nothin personal against Dooley, just business. That being said,I think we make some serious noise in 2012.

For

It's irrational to expect alot from such a young team.

I am reminded of what Shemp, a great stooge said "rome was'nt built in a day, and neither was Syracuse".

Give it a couple of years at least.

For. Give him time. The previous coach inherited a better team and had more success. Wonder what Dooley & Co. would do with last year's team?

For...Dooley just got here. Not going to jump the gun and will wait to see what he can do with the personnel he brings in.

FOR- Many of our veteran players have had 3 different coaching schemes in as many years. Its going to take some time for that to settle in, and get in the right personnel for what our coaches are trying to accomplish. Im not saying Dooley is the Tennessee savior, but he does deserve some time given the circumstance. For that, I support him.

19, For the coaching staff. They haven't had much time to really prove themselves, and I think they deserve a chance. I also think that Dooley cares about character and tradition, which I think are big things for a college football team.

Well.... if there's any corollary between age and like/dislike (or for/against) Dooley, I'm just not seeing it.
