Orange hats only work if we put the number of the player on it in black or white like the 60's. Say what you will but the number on the hat was smooth then ! I'd love to have a new era hat done in orange with a number on it !!!

I don't know why people complain about the black jersey? I think they looked sharp!! It's nice to see a change... nothing wrong with change every now and then... People wanna talk tradition.. Did you guys know Penn states original colors were pink and white.... Thankfully they went to the blue and white... But I still think their uniforms are dull and boring.. Jmo

I don't get why some people hated the black uniforms. I thought they looked pretty good and if I remember correctly E. Berry and M. Hardesty went to Mike Hamilton and asked if they could get some to wear. ADMH approved it if they could get them made in time and that they looked correct.

I agree that they shouldn't be worn every game but I have no problem with them once or twice a season. It's not like that was the first time that Tennessee wore black uniforms.

I think orange helmets for a home game or for games on the road would look great. If I'm not mistaken Tennessee has worn orange helmets before as well.

Plus the players and the majority of the fans loved them and it is also a big plus when it comes to recruiting.

i always wanted to see the vols get stickers to put on the back of helmet for some things,like rushing for 175 or 200 plus yards,passing for 350 or 400 plus or 5 td in a game,int returned for td or kickoff for td,or 12 tackels .game winning kicks or 55 yard fg,they may be others

I agree. The uniforms are fine the way they are. There is no need to change anything.

The only change I would suggest is that UT and So Carolina get together and ask the SEC/NCAA to approve USC in black and UT in orange annually for their halloween weekend game without regard to which is home team. I see no reason that they would not be approved and it would begin a cool tradition with an annual opponent. The requirement for white for visiting teams is out of date anyway. It was based on difficulty with black/white TV in days when color TV was a luxury. Perhaps it is time to simply change that, too.

Actually I think it's completely up to the home team. We wanted to go back to orange/crimson with Bama, but they wouldn't go for it

I'm not for the orange helmets... but I would love to see a black helmet with the black jersey (if we ever see them again)

I would say that it is the first time black jerseys have been worn since the official colors were changed to orange and white. When has UT ever worn orange helmets? What year?

It was sort of orange -- a natural shade of leather back when leather helmets were the standard.

UT has worn orange helmets in the past when the helmets were still leather. I wouldn't mind seeing an orange helmet once or twice a year with the all white uni's or with the orange pants and white jerseys.

The only thing is that they would actually have to make sure that the orange on the helmets would match the rest of the uniforms unlike it does now.
