Everyone help me refresh my memory a few years backi think when T. Harris played b.ball for us did we not were black b.ball uniforms I believe at Rupp Arena in Kentucky? Just wondering if that was true or just something I dreamed? I think that would be sweet if they did pull out the black basketball uniforms for a couple games this year! Wish we could were black uniforms at home and we blacked out Thompson Boling it would look sick with the remodel from a couple of years ago! If anyone remebers I like to know if we did or didn't wear black before. And if anyonehasa picture of them in black uniforms please post some pictures to refresh my memory! I also thought we wonthe game to.

You were dreaming.

All this Nike talk on uniforms is silly, if these uniforms were so great, why are they not in the NFL. There is only 1 manufacture for the NFL uniforms and it is Reebok. I would think the league where big money is involved and a uniform would be a big advantage, it would be worn there. It all boils down to 1 thing, hype, why hasn't the players who have worn them, comment on how they performed.

Reebok is hanging on by a thread, about to go under

Reebok contract goes thru 2012 with the NFL, if Reebok is in trouble, what does that say for Adidas who merged with Reebok, if my memory serves me correctly.

Reebok has a contract with the NFL, Thats the only thing NFL players wear on the field. Dont think they are about to go under....

The economy being down is why they were in trouble. Fans are not buying the liscensed apparel like they used to.
Reebok/adidas has to provide the unis and coaches gear at no charge to the teams. The money is in the fan gear.

adidas bought Reebok in 06. adidas also owns Taylor Made golf and Rockport shoes.

Maybe not in the same factory, but yes they are contracted to be made by the same company that contracts to make the NFL unis.
There are only a few facilities that can make the uniforms to the quality standards of the NFL and the upper teir NCAA teams. Their unis are not "mass production" uniforms like the high schools and youth teams wear.

Nike has "launched" this Pro Combat line to stir up interest and next year they will make a "mass produced", "plug in your colors" version of the uniforms available to the high schools. That is the purpose of these one time uniforms. The ones that the high schools will be able to order, will not be the same quality.

Much like Walmart has ruined rural America by putting mom and pop stores out of business, it looks to me like Nike is trying to monopolize the sporting industry. People need to wise up and take notice or before long your only choice will be colors by the same manufacture. I can't speak for anyone but myself but, anytime there is a monopoly the people lose and the company wins.

Same factory, same materials. The company is Ripon, and their only factory is in Berlin, Wisconsin.

To be perfectly correct, adidas/Reebok has contracts with Ripon and another company, ACO in New York to manufacture NFL jerseys. Ripon manufactures 23 teams at last count, ACO has the other 9.

ACO also does some college uniforms for adidas, but Ripon does the higher profile teams including UT, Notre Dame, UCLA, Nebraska, Michigan and Wisconsin. ACO manufactures Northwestern, Mississippi State, Arkansas and others.

I wasn't going to name the companies. This info is correct.

I hope we don't get "modern" uniforms like Floridas. From the back they look like they're wearing ladies garter belts. A little gay for my tastes. :eek:hmy: :ermm:

I absolutely loved the fact that you specified that garters were for "ladies".

BACK IN BLACK?
Several Tennessee players carried black adidas jerseys with them following Friday's practice. The Vols were given the option to purchase the black tops that were more in line with the design specifications of their regular orange and white jerseys. The black jerseys that Tennessee wore Halloween night against South Carolina were not official adidas jerseys and more closely resembled their practice gear.
