I would love to see that look reproduced for 2010. If the NFL can go throwback for a few games, why cant the college game?

Plenty of teams have done it. We did it once with the Orange shoulders. UF did it when they celebrated their 100th year.

I agree that this look would be awesome if properly made into a throwback for a special occasion - and only if we did the helmets with it as well.

I heard that there is a black tee coming out with glow in the dark ink around the Power T....that would be cool to see in the stadium on Halloween. Does anyone know if it will be a night game against SC?

No offense, but some of you have apparantly lost your mind. UT is about tradition. We are orange & white. Accept it. Michigan = tradtion. Does Michigan have black jerseys? No. Bama = tradition. Does Bama have black jerseys? No, but they beat the crap out of a team who decided to don black jerseys. USC (the real USC) = tradition. Does USC have black jerseys? No.

Don't you know we can't change helmets? That's just not what Tennessee does. Duh.

I meant the throwback helmets to match the throwback jerseys. Since it is something that is part of our history (the helmets our team actually wore), I don't see the problem.

I hate the gimmicky blackout idea that is soooo far beyond played out. I mean, Maryland had a blackout two weeks ago and nobody even noticed.

However, a nice throwback like this (given an appropriate occasion to break them out) could be really neat. Just my $0.02.

Blackout... sooo played.

I remember back when the Atlanta Falcons went from red to black, before our state had it's own NFL team to follow.... didn't help them much.

Not sure the whole blackout does much for intimidating the opposing team. Code blue didn't help the Titans much... The crowd and team should be hyped because USCjr. needs a beatdown. Please no throwbacks... The Broncos showed us this past weekend how disasterous that can be... However, I don't mind the team wearing black jerseys!

So many people on here are bucking the uniform change ideas, claiming that change is so bad. Well, answer me this... If change is "so" bad, then why, with an all new staff and philosophy, does the future of UT football look so bright?

Coaches that are resistant to change become obsolete and get fired. Change is a natural progression. Do I believe in the UT tradition? Absolutely! But young players care about this stuff. i.e. "If you look good, you play good." And real tradition is not about how you look. It's about how you play and winning ball games.

Those who resist change often get left behind.

Just my opinion. Nothing against those of you that disagree. You are certainly entitled to your opinions.

GO VOLS! No matter what their unis look like!

i phoshopped a pic of leonard little but it exceeds the file size limit to post, It does look awesom though

That was an embarrassing season in Vol history. One of the most mediocre Vol teams ever. Life is Orange and White. There are plenty of teams that wear black if you want to go cheer for them.

Mike Hamilton knows that Tennessee Orange & White is traditional branding that no other team in this country has and to diminish it with a fad such as Vanderbilt black for the purpose of satisfying a few people who are looking for another vain stunt just is not worth it.

If a kid does not like Tennessee Orange & White, go somewhere else. There are plenty of teams that wear black jerseys and they will probably look good in one if that is important to them. You probably will not be playing for a team with a tradition like The University of Tennessee, or a coaching staff as good as ours.

These coaches are well paid because they can recruit and coach. Not because they believe in gimmicks. Gimmicks belong to Georgia. Excellent coaching and tradition now belong to Tennessee and that is what will produce great players and winning teams, unlike the 1963 Vols, one of the mediocre teams in Vol history.

As I said, Georgia wore the black jerseys and see where they are now.

I do not know if anyone has noticed or not, but Texas has changed the color of their jerseys to add a little more golden hue that more closely resembles our orange. They must know the value that our unique colors.
