You guys don't know the half of it. Imagine having two rival schools, both UGA and FSU, who have donned the black uniforms and still hearing our fans want a blackout/some black jersey combo. Granted, the overall majority DO NOT WANT this.
Glad to see the majority here don't want it either. Well played.
It's human nature to resist change, even when the prospect of something better is present112 football seasons played from 1891 - 2008
(no seasons 1894, 1895, 1898, 1917, 1918, 1943)
The first game in which UT football Vols wore orange jerseys:
Sept. 23, 1922, UT vs. Emory & Henry, Knoxville, 50-0 W
26 seasons played wearing black jerseys w/ orange & white piping (23.2%)
86 seasons played wearing orange jerseys (76.8%)
They aren't stripes at all. The outline incorporates (much of) the Power T in our logo. The outline in black is ok; I would be fine with that.
But those ugly stripes on the side...not a chance. That is quite horrible.

Instead of stripes and such for no rhyme or reason, it uses the upper torso's natural T-Shape to do so.
Well...they've been "Modernized," as you say, at some point in time...why not just go back to leather helmets and wool sweaters. This team wore black before it "Modernized" with Orange and White.Whatever you want to call them.....they are pretty much white stripes added to the sides of the jersey and they look horrible. Not to mention doing that would once again have UT joining an extremely overdone trend.
Our jerseys are fine and we don't need to follow the herd and attempt to "moderize" our jerseys, especially when the vast majority of thr modernization are quite bad.
