When's the last time the Vols ranked in the top 3 (SEC) in total offense and total defense in the same year?

interesting stats from 2001:

tennessee - 6th in sec total offense with 402 yds per
game(!)

5th in sec rushing, but stephens was the
no. 1 rusher and 12th in the ncaa

defense-2nd in total defense in sec.
3rd in ncaa in rushing defense

sometimes it depends on the circumstances. for example, the 2004 team had pretty decent stats, but having to play auburn-which had probably their best team in history-twice really hurt the numbers.

The most points Tennessee has ever scored in a season were:

1. 1993 with 484
2. 1990 with 465
3. 1996 with 437
4. 1995 with 431
5. 1998 with 431
6. 1997 with 428

I thought this was interesting, considering 6 of these in a 9 year span.

Also, we played 1 more game in '97 and '98 than the rest of those years.

Not that this has anything to do with what the other SEC offenses did those years, when ranking the #'s.
