Vol Traitor?

I was enlisted in the Army out of HS and made E-6. I hammered out college and was selected to go to OCS choosing aviation and flight school. My wife didn't want me to be gone to OBC for 9 months and I relented and chose armor instead of following my heart. Tanks were fun but I made a decision that I have regretted ever since. You have a small window at your age to make critical decisions that will effect the rest of your life. Follow your heart and you will have no regrets right or wrong ...and you'll always be SOLID ORANGE ...no matter what.

AF is a great school, my maid of honor is a professor there now. You can always bleed orange.
Best of luck!

Nothing wrong with going to the academy. I'm the son of a retired air force pilot myself. Just so you know UT does have an AF ROTC program. Two of my buddies from college did that and both are fighter pilots now.

I went in the Air Force one week after high school graduation and ended up getting my degree from the University of Maryland, with grad work at Oklahoma. The only school color I wear is orange. The only time you should be stressed is if AFA plays UT.

Yes , my dad went all the way through UT ROTC and was lucky to make it this far ( F-22 ) but todays AF is much different, its too competitive to take a risk in going to ROTC, its great and all, but the AF picks from the Academy first, i'm not taking any chances with my career.
God Bless the VOLS

No problem, my dad went through the ROTC there too. I know the AF is downsizing quite a bit so its def. more competitive to get a pilot slot. Of course what plane you get to drive is based on how you do in fight school When did your dad graduate if I may ask?

Anyway best of luck to you!

Air Force Academy is not bad, if you couldn't get into the Naval Academy.

Its still way better than the Coast Guard Academy, and exponentially moreso than West Point.

Everyone agrees with me.

I humbly suggest you switch your focus to the AC130 Spectre gunship and do everything in your power to get stationed at Hurlburt Field in FL. Just to sort of keep an eye on things down there, and should any upheaval present itself in, let's say in September, you will be well prepared, located, and armed to deal with it. Just a thought.

Not everyone agrees with you. Annapolis would be 2nd or 3rd with AFA first.

First off I know i'm probably in the wrong forum but who cares.

I am a double legacy at UT, and have always wanted to go to UT, but my dad is a Colonel in the Air Force so my real dream has always been to be a fighter pilot, like him. I am now at the point in my life where I must choose colleges, and the best opportunity for me to be a pilot is the Air Force Academy, I think I will go.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE UT, but this is just more important,

traitor?

All of us should pull for AFA even when we play them.

I am pretty sure UT has AFROTC and you could still be a fighter pilot. That isn't determine if I'm not mistaken until sometime during your first two years as a Lt. But there's nothing traitorous about going to the AFA.

do it, it's not like you're going to bama and trying cheer for the Vols. You have one heck of an opportunity and good luck

you could also end up doing a pregame flyover for a UT game one day

Non-issue. You aren't going to be a successful fighter pilot at UT.
You can and should still pull for the football team though.

Sorry but Curt Watson had a successful career as a Navy pilot with the Blue Angels after he graduated.

you should be heading to the Naval Academy and come out really flying...nothing like landing on a carrier in the middle of the Indian Ocean in a storm.....

Seriously, good luck with your future...and THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE YOUR COUNTRY!!!!!!
