While Alvin Kamara hasn't announced his decision on whether he's staying or going to the NFL, will anyone be able to step up and fill Kamara's role in the offense without a big drop off in talent?
Obviously Jalen Hurd is Tennessee's Bell Cow, but beyond Jalen who's left to complement Hurd for 2016 provided Kamara doesn't return?

Definitely next in line. Great burst, shifty, strong runner between the tackles. Not as talented as AK who I believe has elite talent, but he's clearly the heir apparent at this point if AK declares....unless Carlin Fils Amine is special as a freshman.

I agree but I believe Kelly is as talented as far as running the ball is concerned. Where I think AK has more skills are at lining up as a receiver and obviously punt returning. I believe AK would be an awesome slot.

Heard Swain talk about this Friday morning. Said that while is very high on Kelly, that he believes we'll see a significant drop off if AK declares. And to be fair to your point, cited AK's ability catching the ball out of the backfield as a primary reason. Said people don't realize how important AK was to Dobbs and the passing game this past year and how much more Dobbs would've struggled had AK not been there.

I had no idea he said that and agree with him. AK could line up like Pig and ball out. I was hoping we would see him more out there this past year. If he comes back I hope that we do.

Yeah it'd be great if we got emmons to be the starter after jalen leaves as a sophmore or rs frosh. I"m not sold on CFA

Would like to see us sign another RB in this class whether Kamara returns or not. Two solid backs in this class and again in 2017.

Maybe they would try and get Berry into the offense because of the way he runs in the return game. Could be worth a look in the open field for sure.

Hurd
Kamara if he returns.
Kelly
Young
CFA
Perry could see reps in the slot or backfield if needed.
Same with Berry if needed.

2017RB class is strong. Don't take a 2nd RB in this class. We'll be fine. Like it's been pointed out many times, Butch tends to use 2 backs only if they can handle the load. #3 gets next to no reps.

If Hurd (fingers crossed it doesn't happen) were to be injured, would the Vols be SOL without Kamara?
I'm afraid the season would go down hill very quickly, no?

It would be a disaster. That would be the case for a lot of schools though. Those #3-4-5 guys don't get much work. You don't know what you have till the get the carries. Kelly would be solid. After him it would be a roll of the dice.

Boy, I sure hope Kamara returns, because without him, the Vols may have trouble competing for the SEC east or a 10 win season, don't you think?

As long as Hurd is in there UT can compete for the SEC. Kelly is solid if Kamara isn't a go. We have several guys who could line up in the backfield and catch passes coming out like Kamara. I'm not worried.

Sign 2 backs in 2017. Hurd comes out try and take 3. One being a RB/LB type. That way if we are good at RB the 3rd guy could be a speedy play making LB and special teamer.

While both Kelly and Young would be capable of filling the void they will not have to since Kamara will be back next year.

This. Our 2014 and 2015 classes were outstanding but if we don't keep it up this run will be short lived. Got to have elite talent everywhere, every year, to compete for championships in the SEC.
