Vol Players throughout history

Leonard Little, Dwyane Goodrich, and Donte Stallworth all ended up killing people in vehicular accidents.

Hate is too strong a word, as Weezer said.

But I do dislike incompetence, and self-serving ego-centrism even worse. Worst of all are those whose poor values reflect negatively on the program, our university, and all of Vol Nation.

So Jalen Hurd for quitting on his teammates mid-season, Arian Foster for throwing his school under the bus, Kelley Washington for caring about himself more than his team. Butch for taking a $30k/year job just to rub the finances in UT's face (and at Bama, of all places). Kiffin for treating the university and what we value so cavalierly. Mike Hamilton for supreme incompetence. The Haslams for meddling far too much in UT's athletics.

Those would be seven hot picks in any top 10 list of the 21st Century, I think.

I know you said players, but generally speaking, it's not players who end up being lightning rods for fan disdain. Gotta include the coaches and leadership when this is the topic, I think.

All the hate carried over from Kiffin to Dooley then Butch. We've shouldered a lot over these past few years.
We don't ever talk about it, but we had another coach rain on our parade. We were on top of the sec--even the world and then bang, it was over!

I'm talking about Doug Dickey! He was the man who took us straight to the top. Then he left. I was there and following every game! When he left, we settled for a young inexperienced guy from Alabama that no one had ever heard of! And Battle worked out fine for a couple of years riding the train that Dickey had built.

After Battle, remember it took years--years, for Majors to get it back on track

So, my vote for the Vol who caused the most serious problems for Tennessee football was the guy who never received the hate given Lane Kiffin (and I don't understand why) and that would have to be Doug Dickey. He was a hellava coach and had Tennessee at the top of the college football world, then dropped us for a return to his roots. He put one of those national championship years on the walls in Neyland in 1967 and I saw the Vols play UCLA in the Colosseum and Oklahoma in the Orange bowl that year! (Of course he helped Fulmer put on up in 1998 too--so we forgave him)

I still wonder where the boosters who had the deep pockets were when Florida came in and snatched him away.
Wow, he returned to coach at the school he played college ball. Then, he came back as AD, and presided over the largest success of UT football since Neyland, including 5 sec championships and 1 NC.

The question was players not coaches.

I'll go with the 2002 version of Kelly Washington. He was a cancer in the locker room. Then Janzen Jackson and Nu'Keese. Those guys were were the worst .
The question was Vol of all time. Never said player, he said he looked at past players.

The thread title says players. So I guess Phil is a former player and that applies.

I don't hate any VFLs. Period. Period. Hate is a hateful word and we in our household don't use it. The hell is wrong you people
I'm with you. But I needed a trashy thread to post on since I am just checking out the upgraded board (which is slick.)

Last story I read about Hurd confirmed my suspicion that he was physically breaking down. Anything like "hate" in that situation goes to the incompetence both he and Kamara were working under.
